The name 'Sally' is a VERY COMMON nickname for Sarah. 2. The Laura Peden/Pedon who was born 22 Feb 1872 is not Laura Thorpe Peden. Laura Peden , born in 1872, is the DAUGHTER of Alonzo Peden and Laura Thorpe Peden. As the other look up volunteer pointed out, Laura Peden, born in 1872, married Theodore A. Armstrong and died March 30, 1964, the same date you provided in your query. Collin County Marriage Records, Volume 7, page 481: T. A. Armstrong and Laura Peden applied for a marriage license on 30 July 1890 and were married on 3 August 1890. The Texas Death Index shows Laura Armstrong who died March 30, 1964, was a widow and died in Montague County, Texas. The Texas Death Index shows that T. A. Armstrong died 6-16-1932 in Montague County...#26940. They are both buried in Joy Cemetery in Clay County, TX as is Laura's sister Druselar and their brother Lonnie (Alonzo) and his wife Louella: A. Peden Died 1947 Mrs. Ella Peden 14 December 1867 -- 13 March 1963 Miss Druselar Peden 1870 -- 1940 Laura Armstrong 22 February 1872 -- 30 March 1964 Theodore A. Armstrong 27 February 1871 -- 16 June 1932 James Peden, brother of Laura Peden Armstrong is buried in Bluegrove Cemetery in Clay Co., TX: James Peden 1868 -- 1949 The 1880 Census for Precinct 2, District 20, Collin County, TX shows that Alonzo Pedon is 40 years old and his wife, Laura is 38, making his birth year about 1840 and her birth year about 1842. Their children are listed as follows: Walter Pedon 18 Lonney Pedon 16 Josie Pedon 14 James Pedon 12 Drue Pedon 10 Laura Pedon 8 Nancey Pedon 6 Sarah Pedon 4 Laura, who is shown as 8 years old, would have been born circa 1872 and would be the Laura Peden who married Theodore A. Armstrong (found by the previous look up volunteer) So, your initial information has mixed the mother, Laura Thorpe Peden, with her daughter. Sarah Pedon, listed above as age 4, would have been born circa 1876. You have listed elsewhere that your Sara Peden was born Sept. 1, 1876. This Sarah listed in the above census list would be your 'Sally'. I can find no burial site in Collin County or Clay County for Alonzo Peden/Paden, born ca. 1840 or for his wife, Laura Thorpe Peden/Paden, born ca. 1842. The Ivie or Ivey of Collin County, that I know about were the family of William A. Ivie 17 Oct 1845 TN, and Nancy Emeline Wells 26 Apr 1843 KY. This couple had eleven known children with the oldest born in KY., and TN. I found this family in Carroll TN until about 1910 or so. They seemed to move here and some mig. to New Mexico. Son Finis Watson Ivie and wife Cornelia Rose Taylor had nine children. Most of these children mig. out of the county and lived in Tarrant, and Dallas Counties. Tommy Reece, and some of the daughters of this couple are the only ones that lived out their lives in Collin. I have none of your names in this line of Ivies. Have you checked Family search for death records? http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0 Sincerely Message: 1 Date: Sat, 06 Dec 2008 02:52:37 -0000 From: "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> Subject: [TXCOLL-N] Searching for IVEY grandparents To: <TXCOLL-N-L@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <1228531958.486981@rootsweb.com> Content-Type: text/plain; This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
