Hello, I am searching for Baker's and Mckissick's in Collin Co.. My great-grandmother was a Baker and great-grandfather was a McKissick. My g-grandmother was Roxie Baker b. 2-10-1881 in Texas and d. 7-2-1976 in Fort Worth, Texas m. Joseph Franklin McKissick in Farmersville, Texas. Her father was B.B.Baker(D.B. Baker), mother unknown. She had two sisters; Della Baker and (unknown). Can anyone tell me anything about the Baker's. I've run into a dead end. They lived in Farmersville, Collin Co., Texas at least in 1900 to 1905. Hi, I'm Annie Savidge. I'm researchingthe ancestry of my great-grandmother, Ellen Frances Katherine Boyer. Her father was William Boyer. She was born in Collin County, TX around 1870. She married Ullyses Grant Gifford, of Denton County, TX. Ullyses migrated from Illinois with his father and step mother. Ellen's parent's reported their birthplace as Virginia on the 1880 census. It is unclear as to who Ellen's mother was. William's wife is listed as Mary on one census and Jane on another. It is believed that the surname of one of these women was Hackler, but it really unclear as to who is who. My mother always believed her name was Mary Jane Hackler, but this does not make a great deal of sense to me. It seems more likely that the first wife died and he remarried between censuses. Ellen and Ulysses were married in 1888, we don't know where. My grandfather was born in Oklahoma in 1901 and the family eventually ended up in southern California (San Bernardino-Bakersfield area) where they both died. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

The Lee-Peacock feud occured in the "Four Corners" area, which was Grayson, Collin, Fannin, and Hunt counties. It included families of: Dixon, Vaught, Hudson, Baldock, Peacock, Lee, Borens, Maddox, Dial, Bier, Smith, Nances, Wilson's and many more. I created a webpage after researching the feud. Most of the information came from Glady Ray's book, Murder at the Corners. But includes excerpts from The History of Leonard and several other resources. Larry Peacock, a descendant from Lewis Peacock sent me the letter from Bill Boren, explaining his part in the feud and his illustrous career of riding with Quantrill's Raiders and his friend John Wesley Hardin. It is interesting in his letter where he states that John Wesley will be coming back to the Corners area to dig up the Gold buried by Daniel Lee. To learn about the feud go to: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/1746/feud.html If you have information or some of your ancestors were involved I would love to know about their involvement. The Gladys Harrington Library in Plano has an index to obituaries that appeared in the McKinney newspapers. I'm not sure how many years were covered, but it did include 1903. Microfilms of the newspapers are available at the McKinney Public Library. The McKinney Public Library has four pamphlets containing indexes of obits in McKinney newspapers. I think the time period is 1880's to 1920's. Patti Kruger pattik@startel.net
