1. Re: [TXCOLL-N-L] DEATH CERTIFICATE
2. Hello Alyce, The Genealogy Friends of Plano Libraries, Inc., will do an index search for a nominal donation fee of about $5. They use this money to buy more microfilm for the library. They are 501 c 3 tax exempt. They will be happy to do a search of any available indexes, but do not take the responsibility of compiled genealogies. The Harrington Library in Plano has the birth and death index on microfilm for Texas in their collection. They also have the delayed birth index, all on microfilm. After you have the certificate number and date, you can send a $9 check for a death record to Texas Bureau of Vital Statistics, Texas Department of Health, 1100 West 49th Street, Austin, TX 78756. Birth records are $11. To verify fees or other info at the Dept. of Health, call 512-458-7380. If you are interested in Friends doing any research for you, contact Genealogy Friends of Plano Libraries, Inc., Research Committee, PO Box 860477, Plano, TX 75086-0477. Good luck. Brenda Kellow, CG, CGI President, Genealogy Friends PS: I don't do research at this time. Roots at Virtual Texan

1. [TXCOLL-N-L] Texas Death Certificates
2. Shirley Webb
3. To get a Death Certificiate issued in Texas, write to Bureau of Vital Statistics 1100 W. 49th St Austin, TX 78756 The charge is $9 per Death Certificate. AND, they keep the fee if they do a search and do not find the death on the record. So be sure of your information. Are the numbers you showed on your letter requesting information, the Certificate Numbers? If so, you'll probably want to include that. Give the Bureau as much information as you know, for example: full name of deceased, date of birth, date of death, father's name, mother's maiden name, where he/she died (county). If you do not have all of the above information put as much as you know. The date of death and place of death plus full name is usually sufficient to get the certificate. Unless you are a close relative, they won't issue a Death Certificate when the deceased died within the last 25 years. However, when you list a relationship (Great Uncle, Grandfather, etc.) and the reason you want the certificate (family history research), they will probably issue it. Hope this helps Shirley Webb shirlwbb@ktc.com

2. Hi Minnie, I too am interested in several DC's for Collin County. I was under the impression that you had to be next of kin to obtain them....am I wrong? Anyway I am grandson to Adams family and need two certs. What is your charge and address? Also let me know about the procedure under Texas law. Thanks John Harper Calsouth1@aol.com

2. Mitz, where was your John Watts born? I have always the family left TN and moved to TX's as they probably had family living there. I know some of the Holts And Tidwell's lived around Limestone TX. I have never been able to find them in the Tx's. Have looked on the sounddex for 1910 and 1920, they must have already moved to OK by then. I have sent for the 1900 Tx soundex and 1910 OK soundex. The reason I am trying to locate them in TX is maybe I will also find the Redwines. I will put your keep your e-mail and let you know if I find any thing. Thanks Barbara: << Hi.
