Bob: RootWeb is the oldest and largest genealogy site on the internet. They host our mailing list along with 9,900 other mailing list. At this time they do not have an archive for mailing lists, but they do have archives for other databases. Visit RootWeb and learn more about their databases at: http://www.rootsweb.com/ Make sure you go to the USGenWeb area for the archives, it is great, and visit the GenConnect Boards for you surnames! Also, if you subscribe in list mode...that would mean you would receive every mail singularly, at the time of delivery. Digest mode...clumps them all together (you would not receive until several were posted, and at this time the list is not as active as I would like to see it, so you may not see them for several days). If you are on a very active list...digest is the way to go...to help hold down getting so mail emails. Hope this helps...I am also cc'ing the list, in case others have questions about Digest vs List! KinH> How many KING's actually lived in Collin County Texas in 1880 KinH> and 1890?? You asked this question, but do you really want someone to get the 1880 Census and whatever city directories and actually count the number of people with the surname KING? If someone took the time to do that, and sent you an E-Mail back that said "there were 73 people named KING listed in the 1880 Collin County Census, and 56 people in the 1887 City Directory for McKinney, would that information be on any use to you, really? (By the way, the above numbers are just "made up".) I'm having trouble understanding why this information would be useful. In Volume 1 of the Collin County Cemetery Inscription Book, the index shows that there are KINGs documented on at least 29 pages, probably in at least 20 different cemeteries. I'm not sure it is reasonable for someone to ask this kind of research to be done by others; it seems like the kind of thing you yourself need to get the documentation and dig out, if this is really what you are looking for. But, I probably mis-understood your question. Judd A Texan Living in California
Hi, How many KING's actually lived in Collin County Texas in 1880 and 1890?? Looking for friends and relatives of John H. KING b. 1847 Huntsville, Madison Co., AL, died July 4, 1913, buried in Celina Cemetery. Happy Hunting, God Bless Kathy in Humboldt
Can someone tell me if "decoration day" is going to held this Sunday, Memorial Day, at the Elmgrove Cemetery at Westminster? Thanks, Doris Researching: John Lumpkin and Temetia (Kerley) Haynes and their descendants in Collin and Grayson Counties, 1893-present.
Hello everyone, I have received two requests recently for the address of the Texas Bureau of Vital Statistics, so I thought I would pass it along to everyone on the list. Texas Birth and death are $11 and $9 respectively. Write to Bureau of Vital Statistics, Texas Dept. of Health, 1100 W. 49th Street, Austin, TX 78756. For other states' vital statistics addresses, check "The Handybook for Genealogists" or "Redbook." The books with vital statistics contents also have these addresses. You might also like to read my weekly genealogy columns in the Plano, (Collin Co.,Texas) Star Courier. Last week's column addresses the change in Texas birth and death indexes. The Ft. Worth Star Telegram Virtual Texan website has a booklet for beginners, a military series, links to major Texas sites as well as for other states, software manufacturers, national and regional lineage and professional societies, etc. This weeks column announces the Morman LDS Church's official Family Search data base on line. Remember the one put online in April was a beta test version? This is the real thing and also still continues to be difficult to access. Visit Family Search and fill in the blanks with your ancestors information on a card catalog looking form at <http://www.familysearch.org/>. Have fun! Can anyone tell me about the community of Graybill in Collin County which was incorporated into Westminster in the early 1900's, and the family of William Walter Bradshaw and Mary Elvira Holder who married there on August 22, 1897? Mary's parents were William David Holder and Mary Adeline Brown. Is there a connection to the Willis Alexander/Hesperia Pardue family and the William C. Browning/ Joanna Holder family of Collin County? Mary Elvira's family probably came into the county from Tennessee and Willis & Hesperia came from Mississippi. Any information on these surnames is appreciated. Mitzi Hammond Perkins

Minnie, Thank you for calling my attention to the copyright rules on the response to Robie on the surname RICKMAN. On April 17 thru 22nd, I answered 3 different queries with the info on your books, giving them your website address: http://ccvm.com/ccbc/home.html which was the address in your March 19, 1999 message to Tom. They responded with "her website was closed, so I used the phone # you sent and was able to reach her." The others I sent your name, overland address, phone # and email. It was an oversight on my part failing to do that when I answered Robie's. Please accept my apologies, Charlsie

Hello. I have a large Holder database and am a descendent of the Holders in Collin County. Please contact me and we can exchange information. I live near Anna and there a re quite a few Holder descendents in the area. There is discussion of plans for a Holder-Pardue-Browning reunion in the future. Thank you to all that responded to my request. I haven't been on my computer for a couple days. Gardening, working fillies, etc. God Bless you all that responded. Kathy in Humboldt
I don't know if we are researching the same Rickman line or not. I have a Juanita Godwin (dau. of Thomas M. and Eva Lena (Holder) Godwin) who married an Alvin Richman. They were from Collin Co., TX and lived in and around the Anna area. I really don't have any other information on these people, though.
