    3. Just for your information : The Plano Library has these microfilm reels and copies are .25 a page. I would think any Texas Library with a good genealogical section would have the same. However, they do not do lookups in Plano. In my research I found that all names are not on it. I found several dozen in the Collin county courthouse that were not listed at the state level and vice versa. I am not being critical of this service as I realize that many researchers don't have access to a Texas library. I wonder though if the Archives in Austin have posted this same information? ----- Original Message ----- From: sparrow <sparrow@xta.com> To: <TXCOLL-N-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 27, 1999 08:40 PM Subject: [TXCOLL-N] Death Index > Hi everyone: > > About a year ago, I found the names of two ladies in Euless, TX who offered copies of a statewide death index for all people with a single surname in years 1903-1940. 3. Hello Ray: Upon re-reading your email regarding DURHAM I couldn't find any reference that I had responded to your query. If I did then please regard this email as a duplicate. My DURHAM line is by marriage into the GILMORE branch on the tree. So far I have determined that the DURHAM/GILMORE were married in Tennessee and migrated to Texas where my Great-grandfather settled the family in Lisbon area of Dallas. My gg-grandfather as far as I can tell didn't come to TX with the rest of the family. My gg-grandmother and her mother did come with the rest of the family. So I feel that my gg-grandfather must have died prior to the family leaving TN. My Grandfather settled in McKinney, TX. and live there until about a year prior to his death. Most of my GILMORE/DURHAM family are buried in the Lisbon Cemetery in Dallas. Please let me know if there are any names that I can check for you in that cemetery I have the list of burials. 3. Will look in the files at the museum on Tuesday. I have not seen a history of Pike Methodist that I remember. Pike is written up pretty well in a book entitled the History of Leonard, Texas. Might even have a family history on the Childress family. 1. [TXCOLL-N] Wylie Churches
    2. Does anyone know if there are any churches in the Wylie area that were around in the 1890's? I'm trying to establish when my Cato line came to Texas (sometime between 1894 and 1900) and trying to determine what happened to my 2xgreat grandfather - William R. Cato Jr. I'm hoping that maybe they'll show up on a church record. William died sometime before the 1900 census but his wife, Mary, and his children are in Wylie in 1900. I am assuming that, giving family tendencies, that they would have attended a Baptist church - but who knows. If anyone knows of any present day churches in the Wylie area that were around in the mid to late 1890's - I would greatly appreciate any info. you could give me. Thanks, Teri

    1. [TXCOLL-N] Re: [TXDALLAS] KRLD Update
    2. To the List: Regarding the Family History Show... I was given the same explanation by Mr. Spears about Michael Matthews resigning. But Mr. Spears has neglected to tell everyone the real reason. Mr. Matthews was paid $100 to do the show every week for KRLD. He was doing the show as a labor of love. Also, the station would not promote the show and had it on during the worst time (10pm-12pm) on a Sunday night. I had a tough time on Sunday's trying to stay awake and listen. Michael Matthews helped all genealogists...from the beginner to the most experienced. KRLD wants to make money...they would pre-empt his show many a Sunday for the Ranger Wrap Up show. I was told because it is a money maker and family history is not...and we go with the money maker. This tells me where they put the priority of this show and how they felt about genealogy and family history. Yes...I am upset about this and have felt the need to express my disappointment to others, mainly because Mr. Spears of KRLD said there was not enough interest in Family History, and this is his quote to me, "The audience is very loyal and very small unfortunately. Unfortunately, the program could never pay it's way with advertising support." I know genealogist's and there dedication to this hobby and did not feel there was little interest...that is why I have sent this to the mailing lists that I am on, because I love my hobby, and what Mr. Matthews did to help promote family history. Thanks for listening to me... Denise jmautrey wrote: > > Hello, everyone, > > I was shocked with the rest of you about the genealogy program being > discontinued at our local station, KRLD. 1. [TXCOLL-N] The Family History Show
    2. Just wanted to let everyone know that this coming Sunday, September 26th from 10pm-midnight will be the last show for "The Family History Show", with Michael Matthews on KRLD 1080am. I have listened to the show for the last several years and have learned invaluable tools in researching genealogy. I was told the reason the show will no longer be on the air, is that there was no interest in the show, which is hard for me to understand since genealogy is the fastest growing hobby in the U.S. If you would like to express your feelings about the show being discontinued on KRLD 1080am, please email Michael Spears (program director for KRLD) at: spears@onramp.net Thanks, Denise Maddox your listmom
