Thank you for your prompt reply. I have Grace Evans Book on Nevada. It is great and lots of names with dates that includes relatives. I was born in Copeville and only knew the families from Lavon to Blue Ridge and over to Josephine. So many of us were related. Most came from Tupelo, Miss and Huntsville, Ala. Joy is there any possibility that you would consider selling your book on the History of Leonard, Texas after you have finished using it? Mimi
Hi everyone! I have been gone all week (out of town in classes) learning how to get GEEKIE'er and not checking mail regularly. It is sort of ironic...being that I was learning more about email administration (I am the email administrator for Greyhound Lines). Just wanted everyone to know I helped Doris get unsubscribed from the list and she is doing fine. I am very happy to see the list perk up. We have almost 300 on the list and we should share our Collin county roots. Also, check out the GenConnect Boards for Collin County and the Collin County Webpage at: http://www.geocities.com/dmaddox1/gc_collin.html http://www.geocities.com/dmaddox1/collin.html And remember, just contact me if you have any questions, or need help... Sorry I failed to make that clear. The time period is from the earliest ancestors who entered Collin County, even before it was formed. Many submittors in Volumes I and II brought the stories forward in time to the present day, naming the current children, etc. The preference is that the family came to Collin County prior to 1910, although I have made exceptions. --------------07549FCB87D42A479359F0BE Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="mchamp.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Minnie Pitts Champ Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="mchamp.vcf" begin:vcard n:Champ;Minnie Pitts x-mozilla-html:FALSE url:www.collincountybooks.com org:Collin County Book Co. version:2.1 email;internet:mchamp@airmail.net title:'www.collincountybooks.com' adr;quoted-printable:;;3000 Teal Ln. =0D=0A;McKinney, ;TX;75070-4187; x-mozilla-cpt:;15200 fn:Minnie Pitts Champ end:vcard --------------07549FCB87D42A479359F0BE--

Hitt Collection of family stories & pictures for COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, FAMILIES, VOLUME III will cover a period of years. I have two other books that will be published before Volume III. There is no publication date set now--probably three to four years, based on past experience with collection and production. However, I have a call for material now in order to get people started. What I would like at this point is a preliminary story and xerox of pictures. When production begins, I will contact everyone for story updates and final pictures. You may send stories and pictures via email. Be sure to include your mailing address and phone number, though. If you have any questions, email me. Current books under production: 1. Reprint of COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, CEMETERY INSCRIPTIONS, VOLUME II. Please send me any corrections you may have noted in Volume I or II as well as additional burial information for people you know are buried in a Collin County cemetery but were not included originally because there was no headstone, or were missed. This will not be an effort to bring the cemeteries up to present date, but to document those who were buried there at the time the books were published (1970s.) 2. COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, EARLY SCHOOLS This book will be my first collaborative effort for Leona Richardson, recently retired from the Collin County Clerk's Office, will assist in the project by handling county records' research. The time frame basically is up through the 1930s. A call for materials is being issued, such as any pictures, stories and information about the earliest schools, those one-room buildings where our earliest County residents were schooled and anything relating to Collin County teachers and the school system. Information about people who deeded or donated land for school purposes with approximate dates would document the history. If you have copies of letters, old newspaper articles, pictures or any other items which would reveal either your family's connection to an early school, or a school in your neighborhood, please send a Xerox copy to: 3000 Teal Lane, McKinney TX 750707. You may also send via email to "mchamp@airmail.net". Be sure to include your name, address and phone number so you can be recognized in the book. YOU MAY have a piece of county history that no one else has. Help to make this a complete history of this important phase of Collin County's history. *** If anyone is interested in helping on one of these projects, please contact me. --------------110CE63C0CCF6756E63B8764 Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="mchamp.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Minnie Pitts Champ Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="mchamp.vcf" begin:vcard n:Champ;Minnie Pitts x-mozilla-html:FALSE url:www.collincountybooks.com org:Collin County Book Co. version:2.1 email;internet:mchamp@airmail.net title:'www.collincountybooks.com' adr;quoted-printable:;;3000 Teal Ln. =0D=0A;McKinney, ;TX;75070-4187; x-mozilla-cpt:;15200 fn:Minnie Pitts Champ end:vcard --------------110CE63C0CCF6756E63B8764--
