I do not know any Holder families. Sorry, Georgia

It is sort of ironic...being that I was learning more about email administration (I am the email administrator for Greyhound Lines). : :Just wanted everyone to know I helped Doris get unsubscribed from the list and she is doing fine. I am very happy to see the list perk up. We have almost 300 on the list and we should share our Collin county roots. : :Also, check out the GenConnect Boards for Collin County and the Collin County Webpage at: : :http://www.geocities.com/dmaddox1/gc_collin.html : :http://www.geocities.com/dmaddox1/collin.html : :And remember, just contact me if you have any questions, or need help... : :Your ListMom :Denise Maddox :
Folks you got back to the same Rootsweb page where you signed on to the list. Instead of typing in subscribe, you unsubscribe. That does it!!!!!
The only editions of the McKinney Examiner in existence are at the museum in McKinney. They are in bound volumes. We are in the process of trying to get them microfilmed. The museum has 24 volumes starting in 1938 and going to the 60s. Obviously a few years are missing. If whatever you want falls into those years, I will be glad to look it up for you. My family connection to Collin Co. is through the Browning-Erwin-Holder-Gentry-Pardue (maternal line) and the Hammond-Birdsong-Pilkington-Smith-Norfleet (paternal line), but my question is more general: Does anyone remember the McKinney Examiner newspaper (weekly) and is it archived? I met a man from Lavon a couple of months ago who was wanting to do a history of Lavon, mostly from oral interviews. It would be nice if he did. There is a lady in Blue Ridge who says she is going to write a history of Blue Ridge and she has a lot of material. I have been trying for about 4 years to get her going. I would love to have a copy of Grace Evans book on Nevada. I think it is wonderful, except for no index. I have found a few mistakes in it. I recently wrote a historical marker application for the Empire Masonic Lodge in Nevada. I used her book for a reference, but found a few conflicts between it and deed records and the masonic lodge records. Do you know where the old Empire community was? The Bear Creek Cemetery is all that is left there. It is in bad shape, but a Boy Scout choose it this year for his Eagle project. The masonic lodge has also adopted it. Maybe it will be maintained in the future. What names are you interested in? Joy Georgiamhh@aol.com wrote: > > Thank you for your prompt reply. I have Grace Evans Book on Nevada. I gave the book to the museum in McKinney. I could ask them about it. Maybe we could lend it to you. Joy MPaul62436@aol.com wrote: > > Joy is there any possibility that you would consider selling your book on the > History of Leonard, Texas after you have finished using it? > Mimi
