    2. You might check Van Zandt county to check for cousins. There was a Chitty Nursery there (Wills Point) for many years.

    2. Norma, you can check the migration trails that many of our pioneers used to travel in the very back of the "Handybook for Genealogists." Then try the books in your local library called "Maps on File" for others. All of these can be photographed. Good luck. 3. Hi Ray, Sorry to hear you're not part of our George family. My husband's greatgrandfather was Joseph G. George and he lived in Plano, TX in the latter part of 1800's and moved to Indian Territory to the part that is now Jackson Co., OK. He did have other family living in Plano and Farmersville area and one son, Louis Dudley was living there in 1910. May still be George's in that area. Thanks for answering and Good Luck to you on your research. Pat McAlpine ----- Original Message ----- From: Ray D. 3. Ray, I keep seeing your name and I just have to ask? Are you related to any of the George's that lived in Collin Co. in the late 1800's and 1900's? My husband's greatgrandfather was a Joseph G. George and was married to an Emily. They had Joseph Eli, Henry, Louis Dudley, Sallie, Sarah and Ida(husband's grandmother) He moved on up into OK in the early 1900's but know he had other family that remained there and wondered if we're connected? 1. [TXCOLL-N] Blue Ridge Settlers
    2. Edward E Wallen
    3. Hello, I recently found this newspaper clipping in a box of my grandmother's pictures. It has no date, but there are clues at the beginning. Maybe someone on the list has ancestors listed. Mine are William and James Moyers. Gale >From old newspaper clipping: (written when the population of Blue Ridge was 544, three years after incorporation, two years after the square was blacktopped, and the same year a $30,000. water system was installed.) BLUE RIDGE IS INCORPORATED Blue Ridge, Texas. -- The town of Blue Ridge, located in northeast Collin county, was given its name because it was built on a ridge that used to be covered with blue grass, according to old-timers. I.D. Sellars and Henry Eakle were the first known settlers, coming here in 1873 and farming the land where the present town site is located. The first store was owned and operated by BILL MOYERS and JIM MOYERS, being housed in a one-room log cabin with dirt floor and consisting of about $50.00 worth of stock. In 1874, a one-room log school building was erected about three blocks south of town. Six pupils enrolled under Sam McKinney, teacher, and the pupils averaged going to school about two days a week. Sam McKinney, Gus Whatley and JIM and BILL MOYERS operated the second store here, going in business after the MOYERS BROTHERS' store burned. The second store was a block north of the present business section. Zac Abernathy opened a dry goods and grocery store in 1874. The next year a drug store was opened by Dr. Graves and Dr. Tate. In 1876, Julius Connor and BILL MOYERS bought the present town site from Mr. Abernathy, laid it off in lots and the town began to build rapidly.... Among other early settlers were J.S. Sinclair, Gabe Warden, Jesse Short, Jack Smith, George Hart, Bill Pruitt, Robert McCarley, J.A. Barnett, Jim and John Griffith, Bill Christian, Ike Dodson, and Bill Warden.

    1. [TXCOLL-N] Death Certificate
    2. Edward E Wallen
    3. Hello, I would like to order a death certificate for Sarah Jane Cain Addison d. 21 Dec. 1941, buried at Liberty. I usually email the State Library in Austin with great results. Sarah Jane, however, doesn't appear on their cumulative list. They suggested I look in the county. Since there's a big sign on the Collin Co. site about the court house not doing searches (get a number from the Family History Center in McKinney or Plano) what does an out of state person do? Any ideas would be appreciated. Gale
