Is it still there? Do you know why it's called Parker? Any cemeteries there? I have a Parker family in Collin County about the mid 1870's and on. I'm trying to find out if maybe they lived there. I'm planning on a road trip to come and see it. Alice, the St. Paul Community has always been in Collin County and is still a community in the SE section of the county near the East Fork of the Trinity River. For a blurb see "Churches" on the <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/4167 ">GENEALOGY FRIENDS </A> web site for an article on St. Paul Catholic Church, formed in 1857. The church also had a cemetery. It is still active today. My families are from that area but I am not familiar with your surnames. Good luck. Hello Listers: Can anyone tell me if St. Paul, Texas was located in Collin county in 1888? I have a letter from my great-great uncle James McQuade and it starts out St. Paul, Texas, Sept. 1888. I am also looking for researchers of James and Quintiller Scudder McQuaid/McQuade. He was a doctor and a farmer. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Alice in Arizona
Can anyone tell me where this is located? I've already checked out the Handbook of Texas online. My mom-in-law's mother was a Hickman. Tonya Aultman-Harris mtharris@ev1.net Pay for your research (and mine) with Alladvantage.com #CNO-573

TN and in the 1870 census in Collin Co. The Arron of my interest is listed at age 9. The Democrat of 8/23/1900 states "Mrs McMahan age 77 died at the home of her son-in-law Arron Bryant ---- buried in Pecon Grove Cemetery". My Great Grandfather Joseph Manning McMahan is buried not far from Arron Bryant's marker. I think the Mrs McMahan may be the mother of Joseph Manning McMahan. Prior researchers, however, assure me the mother of Joseph Manning McMahan never came to Texas and they have no record of a sister, only brothers of Joseph Manning Mcmahan. Can any one tell me if cemetery records exist for this time period? There is room for several unmarked graves near the present day markers for Arron, Joseph Manning his wife and son William.

I checked there too, :-). I am looking for this family that was in Collin County in mid-1870's, and 1880's. John Parker m.Mary ? Frances (Parker) Aultman m.James Aultman (he's not on the census) Zula and Johnann (Frances' daughters) Aultman. I was thinking they may have lived there. Thanks for your help. Parker is on Farm Road 2514 near Maxwell Creek two miles northeast of Plano in south central Collin County. It developed around the gristmill and general store built by T. L. Johnson in the early 1880s. In the mid-1880s the St. Louis, Arkansas and Texas Railway surveyed the community and laid out town lots. Later the company decided to run its tracks through Wylie, two miles southeast of Parker. Although bypassed by the railroad Parker continued to serve as a retail point for area farmers. A post office operated there from 1888 to 1901, when the mail sent to Allen, two miles southwest. The population in Parker grew from an estimated twenty in 1960 to 1,098 in 1980, probably a result of the growth of nearby Plano. In 1990 Parker had a population of 1,235. I noticed that also. Armond Has anyone noticed that so many of the same notices appear on the list at least twice? This sure clutters up the inbox.

Hello, Does anyone on the list have any Robinson (Snow Hill area) information. I am especially interested in Elisha Robinson from AR who married Matilda Barker in Collin Co. in 1859. Gale
The Chitty Nursery was in Wills Point as recently as three or four years ago, and may still be there. LAFON2RED@aol.com wrote: > > You might check Van Zandt county to check for cousins. There was a Chitty > Nursery there (Wills Point) for many years.
============================================================ LETTERS TO THE EDITOR <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> ============================================================ MIGRATION TRAILS Could you tell me where to find the trails the pioneers took to reach California? I would like to have an idea how my ancestors wound up in Illinois. Norma _____________ Dear Norma, This is a great question and one that I see quite often. There are a number of resources that may be of interest to you. Ancestry has a good collection of maps in the Map Center (http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/main.asp) that show various trails. Some of the more notable maps in the collection include: Westward Migration in the US, 1775-1860 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =299 Exploration and Settlement Before 1675 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =641 Exploration and Settlement 1675-1800 <http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageI D=643> Exploration and Settlement 1800-1820 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =644 Exploration and Settlement 1820-1835 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =645 Exploration and Settlement 1835-1850 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =647 Exploration and Settlement 1850-1890 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =648 Main Post Roads, 1804 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =556 Main Post Roads, 1834 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =557 Railroads in Operation, December 1840 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =550 Railroads in the East, 1827-1850 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =417 Railroads in the West, 1827-1850 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =419 Routes between Fort Laramie and the Great Salt Lake http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/reference/maps/freeimages.asp?ImageID =729 There are also some great organizations and Web sites dedicated to migration patterns within the U.S. and the various trails westward.
