I did give a full citation in the first email that I sent about the Cemetery Clean-up although I did not know if the book was still available or where to get it. I might add that everyone in Collin County that we have talked to has been very helpful and encouraging. We would appreciate any help - physical, monetary or in spreading the word! There is a lot of work to be done. Cleaning first. My husband and his brother have already been up twice to work and we are expecting a good group on Saturday, March 18. 3. It is possible to get the SCORE program to clean cemeteries in Collin Co. SCORE is minimum security county prisoners who do the work in the morning and go to classes in the afternoons. They will do clean up of the yardwork variety, but they do not repair stones. Send requests through the county Sheriff's Dept. Someone representing the person making the request must be at the cemetery at the time the prisoners are cleaning it. Honaker/Murchison Cemeteries have been cleaned at least three times by them. 3. TWIN CEMETERIES (Honaker & Murchison) The Honaker & Murchison are old twin cemeteries in Collin County - located about 2 1/2 miles northeast of Farmersville. According to the Collin County (Texas) Cemetery Inscriptions, Volume II, by Mr. Alice Pitts, Mrs. Wanda O'Roark, and Mrs. Doris Posey, "The first burial in the Murchison Cemetery was in 1860." There have been no burials there since the mid 1930's and the cemeteries are overgrown with underbrush, trees & trash. Up until this time all cleanup has been done under the supervision of Lt. Dent, Deputy Sheriff of Collin County, about once a year using prisoners. Some of the Murchison descendants want to clean the cemetery up and form a Cemetery Association for the upkeep of the cemetery. Saturday, March 18, 8 a.m., has been designated as "Clean Up Day" - weather permitting. He could have been a child of your couple. Their names are not included. This information is from COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, CEMETERY INSCRIPTIONS, Volume I, published by my mother, Alice Ellison Pitts, and which I have available for purchase. Mom kept an extensive set of files of Collin County communities, and in her files I find a lengthy history of St. Paul Community. It was founded in the 1850s. I feel confident it was a thriving community in the 1880s for I had relatives living nearby at "Dump" St. Paul is carried on the latest map produced by one of the Collin County departments.
