To clarify, "Liddie Beth" Spurgin's name is actually Lydia Isabelle Spurgin. My husband's grandmother called her Liddie Beth and said thought her name was Elizabeth. Makes sense. :) I would have never guessed Lydia either. There is a E.A. & L.I. Housewright listed in the Wylie Cemetery with the correct dates so it looks like their resting place has been identified. Thank you!

I am now searching for the parents of Frank Colley. In the 1910 Lamar Co., Texas US Census, Frank is listed as Cally rather than Colley and most of his descendants took the spelling Collie. However, the only one's i'm able to find in the census records as far as the kids go are Hardy, Alice, and Tennie. Have no clue what happened to or where the rest went. There should be a son named George and am wondering if that's actually who the L person is in the 1900 Census. Frank and Susan had both died by 1914 and am guessing in Lamar Co., Texas. I have found Susans Step father and her mother in the census records, but haven't had any luck with Franks. Hopeing someone out there knows something. Melissa

E. Alexander Housewright born March 12, 1843 in Collin County Texas. Was married Abt. 1869 to Elizabeth "Liddie" Spurgin (born approx 1849). Died approx 1905. I'm trying to figure out where this E. Alexander and Liddie are buried and when they died. No luck in the Wylie cemetery. Of course, I'm not sure what first name they'd be listed as either. I do have a death date for their son, Sylvester Housewright - March 17, 1948 in Wylie, Tx and is buried in the Wylie Cemetery. Where can you request obituaries?

The 1870 Census for Jackson County Georgia list a household consisting of Allen Colman age 85, Ann Coleman age 85, Mary Williams age 40 all born in SC, Emmit Williams age 15, Alonzo Williams age 14 and John Williams age 10 all born in GA. These were the wife, children and in-laws of John F. Williams who died at Vicksburg, MS in 1863. The story handed down from our parents and grandparents is that Emmit and his brother Alonzo set off from Stone Mountain Georgia in the late 1870’s for Texas. The story has it that Emmit got as far as the Tyro/Harmontown area in Lafayette County, MS where he met and fell in love with his wife-to-be and that Alonzo went on to Texas. We know that Emmit Reynolds Williams (1853-1917) married Sarah Frances “Fannie” Rayborn (1858-1921) in 1878 and that the couple had seven children. The 1880 Census for Lafayette County Mississippi list a household consisting of Emit Williams Age 26 born in GA, wife Fannie Williams age 21 born in MS, brother Johnnie Williams age 18 born in GA and son Columbus Williams age six months born in MS but no mention of Alonzo or Mary. In 1937 when he was age 10 John Cully Williams, a grandson of Emit Reynolds, traveled with his father John Thurber and his uncle Christopher Columbus to visit an “Uncle John and Aunt Annie 80 in Gainesville GA.
