I read this posting on the Collin Texas list. The Griffin surname caught my attention. My great-grandmother, Sallie Lerzine Matilda (GRIFFIN) Roberts was born 24 November 1848 in Tennessee, married Ben H. ROBERTS, 25 Jul 1864 in Gallatin, Sumner County, TN. The family migrated through IL, KY, & AR before arriving in TX in the late 1800s. I believe she and other members of the family were in Falls County, TX in the late 1890s and early 1900s before moving to Collin County, where she died 5 Jun 1929. It occurred to me that she may have moved to Collin County to be near relatives following the death or her daughter. Her son, Walter Lee ROBERTS died in Melissa,Collin County, 21 Oct 1962. My ggg-grandparents were Rial and Angeline Crowder who came to Collin Co., TX from Sangamon Co., IL. Could the person you are looking for be connected to them? Rial and Angeline are buried at Fitzhugh Cemetery at Forest Grove. Contact me if you are interested in this family. I do know there was a John Crowder who was named as one of the carpenters/builders of the Forest Grove Christian Church in the 1870's, -- Dianne Erwin erwin@suddenlink.net ---- "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Thank you Aurora, I did find that Nancy E. Griffin b 1896 daughter of Irvin C. and Alice married a Walters. James Thomas Griffin's daughter, Katherine married a man name Thomas Criddle Green. They lived in the Dallas area about 1930 and worked for an insurance co. They had a son named Michael Tom Green born about 1948. If you know any of these people please let me know. (I do have a copy of Irvin Cornelius Griffin's write up from the paper. I have a copy of James Thomas's draft notice.) I need to know something about James Thomas and Maude Viers children. Lena, Katherine Griffin Green, and Ervin. amslagle@att.net From: "Aurora Chancy" <achancy@msn.com> To: <txcoll-n@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 15, 2008 10:23 AM Subject: Re: [TXCOLL-N] Griffin AND McMasters > She is not listed in the index the library did for obituaries.
