Fred ... I saw your query about the Milton Monroe Wallace family. What type of documentation do you need? This family has been well researched and published. "M. M. and Tabitha came to Santa Anna, Coleman County, from Wise County, Texas in 1895 and bought land including part of the East Mountain and extending southward. With them came their children (all married) and their families. M. M. and Tabitha built their home, a big rambling place with a "smoke house" and a cellar. All the children built their homes nearby. M. M. was born April 22, 1833 in Birmingham, Alabama and died January 13, 1914 in Santa Anna and married Tabitha Blanton, born February 15, 1835 in Whiteright, Texas, died May 12, 1923 in Santa Anna. He married in 1851. They lived the rest of their lives in the home they built when they first arrived. He farmed and ranched." (Coleman County and Its People, 1985, page 1191.) This is from a lengthy article, "The M. M. Wallace Family," in "Coleman County and Its People" published in 1985 by the Coleman County Historical Commission, of which I was the main editor and chairman of the Commission at the time. The rest of the article gives the the basic genealogy of the family, including, " ... (3) Ella married Ike Johnson. Children: ... (3c) Thelma married Finis Patton. Ella died young, but her three daughters lived in Santa Anna for years then moved to Northeast Texas. ... " This article was written by Reta Wallace Ing, 1106 Morris Street, Brownwood, Texas 76801, but she is probably now deceased, was she was born in 1898. Her had one daughter, Reta Jane, born in 1942, married Dan Holmgren in Brownwood in 1970 and had two children: Charles M. and Gordon Edward Holmgren. They do not appear to live in the Brownwood area at this time, as I find no telephone listing. An internet telephone search should turn up some of these names. Another descendant-in-law and researcher of this family was Camille S. Wallace, who lived in Fort Worth, but I think she is also now deceased, as is her husband. However, they had a son, Karl E. Wallace, Jr., who was a veterinarian and owned several clinics in Houston, Texas. The article is too lengthly to retype, but I would be glad to send you a hard copy via snail mail (please send address). M. M., Tabitha and Ella (Mrs. I. M. Johnson) are all buried and have marked graves at the Santa Anna Cemetery (Platt I, block 25, which is just across the road, southeast of the office/tool buildings near the center of the cemetery), and appear to be the only ones of this family who are buried here. As far as death certificates from the Coleman County Clerk, the 1914 and 1923 are possibilites, but the 1903 would probably not be available. Beware that Coleman County Clerks have never been very helpful toward genealogists. I can look for obituaries after 1908, as I own the Coleman newspaper collection from that time, and possibly they were reported in it, as it was a county newspaper. I have to charge $3.00 per page for these copies as they are so old and require very careful handling. These newspapers are also on microfilm at our local library, but the library does not have a microfilm printer. I have copies of the old Hosch Funeral Home records, who handled most of the funerals in the Santa Anna area, but they did not start until 1928 but go until 1972. Let me know if I can be of further help. Ralph Terry P. O. Box 958 Coleman, Texas 76834
