    2. Allen Lawrence
    3. Hi List, I adopted this list tonight and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Allen Lawrence and I have been studying my families genealogy for over 20 years, still a novice to some. I have been a volunteer for rootsweb for a year now. I grew up right on the line of Cass County and Caddo Parish, I went to school in Vivian Louisiana. I have fond memories of traveling in Cass county going from one relatives house to the next. My family names that lived in Cass and Bowie counties are; Hawkins, Abney, Lawrence, Campbell and Burns. I look forward to seeing your posts and learning about your families. I hope I can do as good a job as your former list administrator. If you need to contact me you may write to listadmin.allen@gmail.com Happy Hunting Allen Lawrence PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS _________________________________________________________________ All-in-one security and maintenance for your PC.  Get a free 90-day trial! http://www.windowsonecare.com/purchase/trial.aspx?sc_cid=wl_wlmail

    1. From List Admin Please read
    2. Dana Thomas
    3. I wanted to wish all of you a Happy Holiday Season and Happy New Year! While I have your attention I wanted to send a few reminders... Reminders from the list administrator (Dana Thomas) I try to remind the lists I administer of these rules ever so often. This is in no way a reprimand it is simply a reminder. Should the need arise you can reach me at this addy treecrazyd@gmail.com What is ok: Just about anything that concerns genealogy and/or family history relating to the topic of the list. Not ok: Surname signatures. These are those signatures at the bottom of someones email message that list gazillions of surnames (last names) that they are researching. Our computer cannot distinguish between the surname signature and the message. It really messes things up if you're trying to search for a particular name. So, if you know how, turn your surname signature off. If you don't know how, then ask your first question! Not ok: HTML. Hyper Text Markup Language. A real no-no, since it just makes it impossible for many people to read your message. Plain text (no colors or anything fancy) is the best way to send anything to the list. Not ok: Attached files. With the wide variety of email programs in use, attached files don't work for everyone. Plain text (no colors or anything fancy) is the best way to send something to the list. Not ok: Copyrighted material. This includes private email that you've received from other people, articles from books, current newspapers, magazines, etc. It is ok to quote someones email message if you received it from this list. Not ok: Commercial posts. We aren't a billboard for the various publishing companies, software retailers, etc. Not ok: Flames. A derogatory or insulting comment that has been sent to everyone subscribed to the list is absolutely not tolerated. It is possible to disagree and remain civilized. The nature of this list is to assist in genealogy. The rule is one flame to the list about anyone or any issue, and you're out. Well, that's about it...back to regularly scheduled listing and have A wonderful Holiday Season and Happy New Year! :) Thanks for your attention, Dana -- (c)D. G. Thomas Please see my homepage: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~danasite/DGVT/

    1. [CCGS] Sad news
    2. I tried to send this twice last night to no avail so I'm trying it again. Sorry if you receive duplicates. It is my sad duty to report the death of a friend and fellow genealogist, Mrs. Karen Kay Glass Ingargiola. A long time supporter and contributor to the Cass County TXGenWeb Project, Kay and her daughter Kazia Jo Ingargiola Hodges spent many hours transcribing Cass County records. Their efforts will continue to be a resource to other researchers and a continual reminder to us of Kay's hard work and dedication to this project. What a wonderful legacy she leaves! Kay will be greatly missed. We would like to extend our condolences to her family and friends. A memorial page (including obit) can be viewed at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txcass/memorial/ingargiola.htm Happy Ancestor Hunting, Dana Dana Thomas, Cass County TXGenWeb CC http://www.rootsweb.com/~txcass/

    1. [CCGS] Texas Genealogy Programs (June 2004)
    2. FYI... As some of you may know I have been presenting genealogy programs to groups in the Southeast, especially Alabama, during this past year.  I have been invited to come present a program to a society near Austin, Texas on June 17, 2004.  I am taking a week off from work and plan to spend this time exploring "Texas".  I may also be stopping by to present a program to a society in East Texas. I would be glad to stop by and present a program for other groups in Texas, while there during June 12-18, if any socieites have meetings during that time, or can schedule a meeting during that time.  I might also be able to pull together a workshop for Saturday, June 12 on "Alabama Research", if someone was interested in this.  I have no set speaker fees.  Anyway, please spread this word to your friends in Texas.
