This Perdue family was in Davis County in 1870. The only Perdue family that appears in the 1880 census in Cass County was a J K Perdue, age 47, b. GA, father MD, mother SC who seems to be related to Elijah Perdue from the 1900 census. ...this family listed by initials only. If Emma's parents were born in Georgia there must be a connection to the Perdue families in the 1900 record. The 1890 census was burned. 1850, Eastern Division, Pickens, South Carolina Page:473 Roll: M432_857 Jesse Crane, 37, blacksmith, SC Cynthia Crane, 37, SC William Crane, 17, SC Adaline Crane, 17, SC Harrison Crane, 13, SC Rodah Crane, 11, SC Millie Crane, 10, SC Catharine Crane, 8, SC Mary E Crane, 5, SC Arssy? AL are in Cornie, Union Co, AR in 1860 along with his parents and siblings. It appears this family left SC shortly after the census was taken in 1850 as Jesse and Cynthia show additional sons; Joab, b. circa 1851 in AL and Jessee b. circa 1858 in AR. Did not find the Crain family in the 1870 record. Harrison Crain was still in Cass County, 1910. Elijah and James H Perdue families still in Cass County, 1910. Emma Crane is shown as widowed by 1910 and still shows her parents to be born in Georgia with 6 children shown to be born and living; Clinton, 17; Verda, 15; Grace, 12; Minnie, 9; Loraine, 7; Clayton, 5. Texas officially began recording deaths in 1903. The certificates are supposed to list the names of the parents and where they were from. I would suggest obtaining their records to get clarification on where Jess Crain was born. Here is a link to Cass County that may give further information. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txcass/
