    1. Re: [TXCASS-L] Woodmen of the World
    2. I also contacted them this weekend. My grandfather who died in 1918 was a member. They told me they would not release any info about a person who was a member without written authorization from them, or from relative if it was concerning a claim. The following is their reply to me today. "Thank you for your e-mail. We are sorry, but due to federal and state privacy laws Woodmen will not confirm or deny that an individual is or was a Woodmen certificate holder or provide any information without signed authorization from that individual, or when such release is required by law. In addition, Woodmen will not disclose the personal information of deceased individuals unless it is in relation to a claim or a potential claim. You may be able to find information about a deceased relative from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are located on the Web at www.familysearch.org. Their telephone number is 1-800-346-6044. Woodmen's records from that era are very limited. Records contain the members' name, dates of birth and death, date insurance was purchased and the date the claim was paid. There is no information on family, parents, siblings, spouse, beneficiary ,etc."
