To The Comptroller, State of Texas, Austin from Record and Pension Office, War Deptartment, Washington, April 1, 1904. #782255. J. M. Driver was enlisted October 14, 1861, at Camp Reeves as a private of Company F, 9th Texas Cavalry, C.S.A. [Confederate States of America]. He is reported on the muster roll for May and June, 1864 (last roll on file of this organization) with remarks: "Absent, transferred to the Infantry July 1/64." No further information has been found of him. 2. Mrs. E. E. Driver, widow of J. M. Driver, age 56. Has resided in Commerce, Hunt Co., Tx 4 years and Texas since 1858. Is feeble. Married Nov 1864 at Luiden, Tx. Husband died Nov. 26, 1898. She never remarried. Husband served about four years - was discharged at the end of the service. She is destitute, has no property or means of support and has not transferred property within two years of application. Witnesses: S. A. Morris and M. S. [Jenkins -?] 3. Statement of Henry Brigham - he served in the same Company. Age 64. Resident of [Greenville-?], Hunt Co., Tx. Knew J.M. Driver in Cass Co., were boyhood friends and went to school together. 4. Statement of J. W. [Wilton -?] - age 64. Resident of [Greenville-?], Hunt Co., Tx. Was in same reg't with J. M. Driver about 4 years, but only during the War
