Diane: The best way to get copies of indexes is to go to your nearest FHC (Family History Center of the Mormon Church) and order in microfilm. Cost is very reasonable and copies of what you want is available. You can also see what's available on www.familysearch.org This way you get to see what you are getting. You can also order in the needed film. This is easier than trying to get it from the actual courthouse. No heavy ledgers to lift, etc. I've used this for many years and it's worked for me. If you don't have a FHC in your vicinity, ask your local Librarian if it's possible to order in from the State Archives for you. Regardless of the internet, your librarian, whether public or FHC, is still a genealogist's best friend.
