I found James Edward's birth record that shows her maiden name. However, it does seem that not all of the Harrell children may have been born in Texas or were not recorded at the time they were born which happened a lot. James Edward Harold 9 Mar 1929 Male Cass Littleton Harold - Leona Strickland Which child is this? - Sufauh Harrell born 18 May 1937 Male Cass to Lit and Leona Harrell Juanita's and Marvin's births are not listed yet the 1930 census record says they were born in TX. Does Robert Harrell know the names of his Strickland grandparents ? I suggest you obtain a copy of her death certificate as Leona's names are supposed to be on it. You can download a form from the Texas Dept of Health website. Littleton Harrell indicated he was from LA in the 1930 census. There were Strickland's enumerated in the Cass county census but I could not find one listed as Leona or Mary. Some of these people must be related somehow. I would venture a guess that her parents born late 1870's to mid 1880's ? The transcription for the 1930 census says "Lona HARELD". I see it as Leona but still Hareld. Texas Rootsweb for Cass county says her name was Leona Mary not Mary Leona unless someone goofed when they reported her death. The 1930 census is last one available to the public. I also could not find Littleton Harrell in the 1900 and 1910 records.
