    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Watson, Rosser Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JhB.2ACE/33.1 Message Board Post: My name is Anne Cox. I am a decendant of William Henry Watson. I recently found that his mother was Mary Susan Shaw and his father was William Frank Watson who went by Frank in the 1880 Census when he was located in Cass County, Texas. It list their children as William, Ada, Lucy, Pinkney, Thomas E., and Lillie. In a 1900 Census it lists Frank and Susan as William and Mary, which are their first names and they lived next door to their son WIlliam Henry Watson and wife Minnie Lyda. They lived in Delta County, Texas in 1900 and up. It took me a year to figure out that Frank and William Frank Watson were the same person. I am currently working on the continueing ancestry of William Frank Watson and I believe that his father was John T.(or L) Watson born in 1823 in South Carolina. He lived in Rusk county, Texas near his father Dempsey. It looks like he was widowed when William Frank and his sister Martha were small. He may have remarried a young lady named Piety or Deaty Robert! s. From other Census records they had another son John and daughter Ara. Dempsey was born in North Carolina and lived in Georgia and Rusk County Texas. There are two possibilities for his father that come up. Lebon or Soloman Watson. I'm not sure who yet, but I am currently working on it. I myself, am not familiar with the Watsons. My great grandmother was Lula Watson(lucy misspelling on 1900 Census). My grandfather is still living and just remembers that when he went to her funeral that there were lots of Watsons he had never met. He doesn't know any of them. He said there was a huge Watson ranch in Delta County Texas, but I am barely on to who they may be. Lula married James R. Rosser. He was killed at the Railroad when my granfather was only 6 months old.

She is back to being born in TN and parents from TN. I hope you can resolve this. There was only one Wilson who was born in TN in Cass county in the 1900 record. I did not write down the name. Surnames: Kirkland and Wilson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JhB.2ACE/1099.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for your breakdown of the census records. You can see where my problem lies with Nannie giving inconsistent ages and birthplaces. I've been unable to locate her death record to date, but I believe it to be in Lubbock County. You showed a JH Kirkland in the Cass County 1930 census, but I believe it is a different one. He had a daughter who was fifteen, but she did not show up in the 1920 census. (unless she was a step-daughter of the new wife). I'll have to look at my 1930 census in Lubbock County again, because I show Nannie to be there in 1930, and I'm not sure if Henry was with her in that census. thanks again. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JhB.2ACE/1099.1 Message Board Post: According to the 1900 census "Nannie" was born Jan 1881. Most of the 1890 census was burned in the 1920's which leaves out finding her in the 1890 record. Do you know what county she was born in? Is there a death certificate for her? It would possibly have her parent's name on it. Also, Nannie was often nickname for Nancy. Your Kirkland's appear to be in Cass County in 1880 and most likely there in 1890 as well so the Wilson's would have come to this county at some point before the marriage or she could have been born there also. 1. W. S. Adkisson, Alice May Morris, and I. W. May
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Adkisson, Morris Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JhB.2ACE/1103 Message Board Post: This is what I have found: W. S. Adkisson married Alice May Morris (he would have been 22 years of age and she would have been 16) Alice was born about 1874 to Reubin L. and Sallie L. Morris date and place of marriage: August 28, 1890, Cass County, Texas to W. S. Adkisson; they may have resided in Camp County, Texas. They were married by J. B. Minnis (Cass County, Texas Records of 1890, pg. 157), an Ordained Minister. I do not know what denomination. Alice Adkisson married I. W. May on December 30, 1894;a CAMP County Texas Marriage record. This tells me that W.S. Adkisson and Alice divorced sometime between 1891 and 1894. I am trying to find a copy of the divorce decree. I would also like to find out if there were other children born to W. S. Adkisson and Alice May Morris Adkisson during their marriage. I doubt it, because he had a history of marrying, making a baby and moving on. There are gaps, as many as 9 years, where he is no where to be found. And, then poof, he's back again. This is what I have since learned about Rueben: Reuben Alonzo Adkisson born June 1, 1891, Cass County, Texas; lived in California 1942; Lookebo, OK in 1950s; died January 1977, Hinton, Caddo, OK. WWI Civil Draft Registration, shows born Pitsbury, Texas, Comanche County. Buried in Sicles OK cemetery. There is a 33 year age gap between Reuben, my grandfathers (W.S. Adkisson) oldest son and my mother, his youngest child and only daughter (that we know of). I know for a fact that he was married to Alice May Morris, Lela Dyer, and Jennie Mirus (my grandmother) and story has it that there were 2 other marriages that I haven't been able to verify. Do you have any family stories about him you can share? When I was little, we used to go to Lookebo, OK to visit Uncle Reuben, he had a peanut farm. He was about 4'10" tall and up next to my 6' dad they were a site walking around the property. He was married and I think had 2 or 3 grown (adult) daughters all living on the farm with him. Not knowing the history at that time, I remember him being "old", not brotherly but fatherly, which of course he was old enough to be my mothers father instead of brother. The next child (Robert S.) born to W. S. Adkisson was in 1902 in Greenville. We had absolutely no connection with him. Don't know why. I now have to wonder at this stage of my life if my mother even knew he existed - because to her family was everything. Or, maybe after some of the stories I have heard about my grandfather, maybe Lela wouldn't allow her son to have anything to do with my grandfather. My mother had two brothers, both born in OK in 1913 and 1916 (Ralph and Raymond). So Reuben had at least 3 half brothers and sister. I would appreciate hearing anything you know or have heard. Thanks, Beth

    3. Back in the late 1980's, I corresponded with Mrs. Leon Coker. She had a day book that Sippy Alford kept his records. I have copies of the pages, but I am not positive that I got my information from her. I know that she died in 1996, but was wondering if anyone knows of someone related to her. I am wondering where the day book ended up. It was a very interesting journal. Unfortunately, that was when I first started genealogy and did not realize how important it was to cite your sources. 2. Ken Spangler
    3. Hi all, I used to frequent this list a few years back and then was hindered by a few events in my life that kept me busy. I am picking up my research efforts and I'm looking into ways to find an obituary. I seem to recall someone who had a book on the list not long ago who could tell you if an obit was available. In any case, I am looking for info on a Nettie E. Stevenson, who passed away on July 14, 1946 in Douglasville. I have a death certificate but I like to get the obit because it always has an opportunity to uncover more info. If anyone would have any info on how I could locate it (without traveling to East Texas) then it would be greatly appreciated. I used to hop up and travel at any chance but with gas prices going sky high, I am using a little wisdom in this. Thanks in advance for any help! Ken Spangler Forbes/Stevenson Genealogy Research
