Reminders from the list administrator (Dana Thomas) I try to remind the lists I administer of these rules ever so often. This is in no way a reprimand it is simply a reminder. Should the need arise you can reach me at this addy treecrazyd@gmail.com What is ok: Just about anything that concerns genealogy and/or family history relating to the topic of the list. Not ok: Surname signatures. These are those signatures at the bottom of someones email message that list gazillions of surnames (last names) that they are researching. Our computer cannot distinguish between the surname signature and the message. It really messes things up if you're trying to search for a particular name. So, if you know how, turn your surname signature off. If you don't know how, then ask your first question! Not ok: HTML. Hyper Text Markup Language. A real no-no, since it just makes it impossible for many people to read your message. Plain text (no colors or anything fancy) is the best way to send anything to the list. Not ok: Attached files. With the wide variety of email programs in use, attached files don't work for everyone. Plain text (no colors or anything fancy) is the best way to send something to the list. Not ok: Copyrighted material. This includes private email that you've received from other people, articles from books, current newspapers, magazines, etc. It is ok to quote someones email message if you received it from this list. Not ok: Commercial posts. We aren't a billboard for the various publishing companies, software retailers, etc. Not ok: Flames. A derogatory or insulting comment that has been sent to everyone subscribed to the list is absolutely not tolerated. It is possible to disagree and remain civilized. The nature of this list is to assist in genealogy. The rule is one flame to the list about anyone or any issue, and you're out. Well, that's about it...back to regularly scheduled listing :) Thanks for your attention, Dana -- (c)D. G. Thomas Please see my homepage: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~danasite/DGVT/

We did find each other(Mrs Andrew and I) and the family are the same families from our Wilson Haynes who was shown to be (in Georgia during 1850-1860 census) as Hanes a standard spelling of Haynes. Thank you goodness I post on this board, I found one of the Haynes and Harvey's I was looking for the last several years. I will tell you that my W. L. Haynes (could have brothers or cousins in these areas of Cass, Lamar, Titus or Red River and W.L.(was a Widower when coming from Georgia) needing help from family because he had several small children with him. We know where he is in 1870 and at this point he is remarried to the other Harvey daughter Mary. W.L. was missing in the 1880 census so was the nephew Robert Ellis Harvey. We feel he was near family of some kind. I have looked at a map where some of our Harvey's were in Milton, Texas Lamar county(plus travel there myself and it is close to all three county. We do know where W. L. Haynes is after 1881. I will tell you this we do have one sister who is not a counted for by the name of Tennessee Harvey(nickname could be Dicy or even something else) whom was married James Taylor Wood, after 1905(the death of her husband) we don't know what happen to her. It is the Haynes line that has people wondering. One question I need to ask you does your Haynes family make thier way out West to Erath County or Limestone Freestone or Palo Pinto Counties? If so we need to talk more and there is someone who would like to talk to you. Again I want to Thank this Hanes family for thier help. I hope the preceding information could be helpful to someone in the future. Best Regards and keep looking leave no door unopen!

Polk Hanes' lineage, and your individuals do not appear there...nor does the Harvey line you seem to be pursuing...same names, different lines, I think. (I am the granddaughter of James K. Polk Hanes and Harvey was my maiden name, but still...I feel you are totally on the wrong track with searching for these people through James K. Polk Hanes of Cass County...Sorry.

I am curious to hear about the mystery re Mollie. Several years ago I found one of her descendants in OK. She had run a query 23 years before in Cass Co. and I was the first to contact her! There is another reunion every year in Palo Pinto Co. TX by the descendants of Benjamin Campbell Harvey, also known as B.C. or Cam. I have not been active with genealogy for several years but with retirement looming, I am at it again. This is soooo exciting. Looking forward to hearing from you barb

Can someone help me with a death date for William B and Sara (Sadie) Elizabeth Daughtry who were living in Cass County when the 1920 federal census was taken. They are nowhere to be found for the 1930 census and have presumably died between 1920 and 1930. Is William B. buried in Cass County? Charlene Donaghue donaghue@quik.com

I don't check this e-mail addy as often as I use to and I'm not at home at the moment. ~Yes, my Akins line is out of Cass co Texas. Your name Zeb doesn't ring a bell, can you give me a birthdate? That would possibly help me pinpoint more info. I have three Akins men, a father, James Isaac Campbell Akins Born in Choctaw co. Miss., his wife's name was Elizabeth Missouri Hanes Akins. And they had two son's that I have down. ~The son's are LeeRoy Green Akins and the other being Newton C. Akins. Both of the sons were born in Cass co. around 1880's and their wives' names have escaped me at the moment, however, I can obtain that info if you wish me to dig it up. Do the dates or anything sound remotely close to what you're looking for? Have you contacted anyone at the Cass co Genealogical Society? They are of great use too, very helpful folks. Have you also looked at the census reports, don't forget about neighbors, sometimes you'll find a relative only a few doors away or so.
