    1. Kasling Descendants
    2. James Skelton
    3. I have searched all of the U. S. passenger lists for many years for my Great-grandmother, Elenor Quigley (18 June 1831, Donegal,Ireland - 10 Oct 1889, Linden, Texas), and only last December, did I find her thru Ancestry.com as a passenger on the "Prudence" of Londonderry sailing from the port of Londonderry to St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on 23 May 1838, with her sister, Ann, and her brother, William. On 14 July 1838, when they arrived in St. John, Elenor was 7 years old, Ann was 22 years old and William was 17 years old. By 1856, Elenor was in Jacksonville, Morgan Co., Illinois, where she married on 21 May 1856 to my Great-grandfather, John Frederick Kesling/Johann Frederich Kießling (24 July 1832, Quellenreuth, Bavaria - 15 Oct. 1892, Linden, Texas). By 1880, the Keslings were in Cass Co., Texas, with all of their children with the exception of Thomas and spelling their last name Kasling; a long way from Donegall, Ireland and Quellenreuth, Bavaria. I now have closure on my search for Elenor Quigley, but not on their children and their children's descendants The following are the children of Elenor and John Frederick Kasling/Kesling: 1. Edward Stephen Kasling, b. 28 Aug. 1857, Morgan Co., Ill. d. 2 July 1941, Linden, Cass Co., Tex. Married Nancy Caroline (Jeffie) Givens 13 May, 1885 in Linden. (My grandparents) Their descendants are the Kaslings of Hughes Springs and the Skeltons of Linden. 2. Mary A. (Mollie) Kasling, b. ca. 1860, Morgan Co., Ill. Married George Wesson ca 1879. 6 children but no known descendants. 3. Thomas Kesling, b. ca 1862, Morgan Co., Ill. No known descendants 4. Isabelle (Belle) Kasling, b. ca 1866, Morgan Co., Ill. Married Will Graham. No known descendants. 5. Maggie Kasling, b. ca 1867, Morgan Co., Illinois. Married Andrew Jackson Nelson ca. 1890. Only child was Andrew J. Nelson (no descendants). 6. Elner M, (Ella) Kasling, b. ca 1871, Morgan Co., Ill. Married William G. (Bud) Kirkland. 10 children. No known descendants except for Cindy Blair. Would appreciate any additional information about the descendants of John Frederick Kasling/Kesling/Kießling and Elner Quigley Kasling. Would appreciate any information about the descendants of Ann Quigley and William Quigley. Jim Skelton tiff4219@zianet.com

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JhB.2ACE/1115.1 Message Board Post: I know that Norvell Slater had a radio show in the Dallas area for many years called "Hymns we love." Here is some more on the Cass Co. Kids: The Cass County Boys are known to a generation of Americans who listened to them on Gene Autry's Melody Ranch radio program from the mid-1940s to the early 1950s and saw them in at least eleven Autry movies and ten of his TV shows during that period. They appeared in several Western films with Charles Starrett and Tex Ritter as well. They recorded for Decca, made transcriptions for the World Broadcasting Service and made five telescriptions for the Snader Company. The composition of the group, which was formed in the latter part of 1936, remained the same throughout their careers. The group consisted of lead singer Fred Martin (accordion), tenor Bert Dodson (bass) and baritone Jerry Scoggins (guitar). Initially, Martin and Scoggins were singing duets on Dallas radio. They invited Dodson, who was playing bass with the Light Crust Doughboys, to join them. Martin was from Cass County, Texas. Scoggins and Dodson were also from Texas. An announcer dubbed them the "Cass County Kids". Each was an outstanding performer in his own right; Martin was a popular radio performer, Dodson was a superb bass player (much in demand as a studio musician) with a beautiful tenor voice, and Scoggins sang the lead in the popular "Beverly Hillbillies" TV theme, among other things. But we remember them most fondly as the Western trio that was always characterized by superb musicianship and smooth harmony. 1996 was the 60th anniversary of the group's formation.

    1. PUCKETT and/or ROBERTS of Cass Co.
    2. Diane Ethridge
    3. I am a desc of Andrew Jackson Puckett, b 1804 SC & Frances Roberts, b 1816 GA, who marr in Coweta Co. GA in 1837. 2 of their sons, John A. & James Tillero went to Upshur Co. TX in about 1885. In about 1888, my gr grandfather, Wm Samuel Puckett moved to Columbia/Lafayette Co. AR. I believe that possibly a bro of Andrew Jackson Puckett's went to Cass Co. Looking for desc of this line for info & photo exchange & maybe establishing a connection. I haven't been able to find the parent of either Andrew Jackson or Frances. After 1870, Frances took some of the younger children & moved to Cherokee Co. AL & there seem to be other family ties with E. AL counties. Andrew d in about 1865. That curious name of "Tillero/Tillerow" seems to be in families only found around this group. Other children of Andrew Jackson & Frances married HOGAN, HARRIS, DUNKIN, DUKE, FULLER & EMBRY. Also there are connections with KING & CULBERTSON or CUTHBERTSON families. ANY help or clue will be very much appreciated. Thank you, Diane P. Ethridge Conroe, TX
