Hello everyone, I am interested in the old Wells Chapel located near the old Bear Creek Settlement. I am interested in any and all information for as of now I know nothing about its history. I would love to correspond with anyone who may know a little about the church. Or if anyone knows of any suggested reading I would be eager to hear more. Thank you for your input. Thanks to all of you that have sent me info on this family. To those of you that ask me if I want more info. A great big Yes! One can never have too much and with this family anything will help me. I would dearly love to find their graves and lineage on Martha. Is there any place that would keep a record of deaths in 1872 or 1886 for Cass County? As you can see from the question I'm getting desperate. Thanks Wanda
I just started subscribing to the Cass Co. mail list. I am researching the Briggs and Niblett families who came from Miss. about 1865 to 1867. Also looking for Evans/Allen and Orr/McKinley researchers. Susan Holman Dallas
I just wanted to remind everyone about the Bible Records Publication... >From a collection of 30 years, the Texarkana Genealogy Society is putting together "all" of the Bible Records collected over the years into "one" publication. * Don't leave out your family... Have it included in this great book!!! Send your Bible Record Information to: Doris Lindblad = [email protected] or Vicki Richardson = [email protected] If you do not have time to type the information, a photo copy will be fine, and a postal address available on request. After publication, this book will be for sale, and there will also be copies donated to the local public libraries for researchers. So get your information in and be included! Thankyou, Vicki R.

Folks, I received this and felt the need to pass it along: > Dana, I have no idea of the problems you have encountered. You have always > been a real pleasure to me and I hate to see you go. > Happy hunting and God speed to you. > > My pleasure I have endured some critics over the lifespan of the Cass County, TXGenWeb Project and the related Cass County email lists. Yes some were very hurtful. However, I have too much of my father's genes in me to give up that easily. I didn't mean to imply in any way that I will no longer be the CC for Cass County, TXGenWeb or that I intend to give up the TXCASS-L; TXCASS-CCGS-L; or TXCASS-CIG-L email lists. I'm here for the long haul so don't anyone celebrate too quickly :) My solution to the problem with the surname list has been in the process for some time. In fact when we changed over to the GenConnect system and it having a built in surname list I considered it then. However, the one I offered had more depth and I had more control over it. But, with the control came responsibility I'm no longer willing to take. Sorry for the confusion. Dana

You must have the newest book on Avinger/Hickory Hill history. There are a lot of errors in it about my McCains but at least it led you here. I have tons of info on the McCains. My great great grandfather Isaac Newton McCain lived at Harris Chapel in Morris Co. Robert was one of his brothers. I know nothing about Lemmons except what Fred's story said. Robert's records are in Marion Co where he lived until he moved into Avinger so his marriage may be there as his 1st one was in Marion. Dee McCain has children at Arlington & Dallas TX but I have never been able to get response from contacting them. Only one of Preacher Jim's daughters still lives at Hallsville. I have some information from Methodist archives on Preacher Jim McCain but none on his wife. Contact me direct if you want to exchange info. Have to ask: are you also a Peacock? Due to increasing problems with the maintenance of the surname registration I will no longer be adding info to the list. I suggest if you are interested in a surname list you check: http://surhelp-bin.rootsweb.com/surindx.pl?gc=/USA/Tx/Cass I will be changing the links to reflect this new change over the next few weeks. Due to uncooperative people, I will also be deleting the files that do exist now so if you are interested in the surname list available now at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txcass/graphics/cch/qryindex.htm I suggest you glean that information now. IF you are registered with my surname list and have not posted a query on the GenConnect board I'd suggest you do so as that is how the surnames get listed on the surname list at: http://surhelp-bin.rootsweb.com/surindx.pl?gc=/USA/Tx/Cass Also, please take note: It is imperative that if you send requests to the CCGS you send them a SASE *and* a Stamped envelope so that they can forward the request to the member! You'll need one of each per researcher you are trying to contact! Let me reiterate: The surname list now available at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txcass/graphics/cch/qryindex.htm WILL be delete in the near future and be replaced by the surname list at: http://surhelp-bin.rootsweb.com/surindx.pl?gc=/USA/Tx/Cass Thanks, Dana ©D. Please note that all messages sent to the list needs to be in plain text format. RootsWeb accepts only plain text mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'', and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists. You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail reader, or don't use any attachments. See http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/listowners/html-off.htm for instructions on turning off HTML in most of the popular mail programs, or ask your ISP's technical support line for help. RootsWeb had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to the digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so they find it's best just to use plain text. Now, I know some of you are thinking well I send mine and it works. Yes, this may be true because RootsWeb put in a filter that changes most of them but it doesn't work on all so if it doesn't you'll get a message back saying it wasn't sent to the list. Usually when I get this notice the mail is in such gibberish by that point I DON'T forward it on to the list. Thanks, Dana List Administrator © D. G. Sorry about the foul up. I clicked on the wrong thing. Should I keep sending the marriage records from Oklahoma? That's what I was trying to send when I sent the....Missing Links... I should have apologized right away but I thought...what the heck. So you see, first instincts are sometimes right, (as they say on.........Who wants to be a Millionaire. :-) Again, Sorry. I'll watch and be more careful. Elizabeth
