Update on the "Old Soldiers Campground".. Can someone help me on information please. When we turned behind the "rest area" at the Sulfur River crossing on 59, the rest area being on the Cass Co. side of the river, and traveled to the end of the road, 2 or 3 miles, we were probably a block away from the area where the spring should be. (I have to go back and have another look.) The roads' end should have been at a bluff that is called Stone Cold Bluff. The land used to belong to Congressman Wright Patman. There was about two acres of land that was the campgrounds. No trees were growing on it back then. We are looking for history, anyone have any to share, or know what we are talking about? Vicki

My husband and I live 3 miles north of the river bridge on highway 59. Going south from our home, cross the bridge, he says there is a road that turns back to the left on the Cass County side of the river, behind a small rest area. This road is almost parallel with the river. The road goes two or three miles along the river (that is how far he went before turning around, a trail may go further, but the road ended at the river.), but where do we look for this spring?
