Sometimes there is phonetic spelling instead of the correct one, or names will be divided differently than on the record, or just initials will be used. This cemetery is located SE of Avinger on Hwy. 49. From the road this cemetery sits on top of a very small hill and looks as if it were taken great care of. HOWEVER, once you look directly behind the fenced in area to the older part of the cemetery it is in pathetic condition. I feel that some of the SMITH's ancestor's of mine are buried there, but without taking the chance of being snake bit I could not find them. The grass is as high, or higher than some of the tombstones in the cemetery. Would anyone here know of who to contact to maybe just have this part of the cemetery mowed ? It is so sad to see this happen. My husband and I would take it upon ourselves to try to mow it, but we live way too far away. Thank you all for any help or suggestions. Rebecca

Their names were Jack HARE and Martha (HODGE) HARE. They were in Cass County probably all of their lives. My grandfather, Jack HARE, may have died sometime in the 1930's. My great-grandmother Martha (HODGE) Hare died in the 1960's. She was cared for by the Crutchfields. Any other info like obits would be welcomed as well as any census data or marriage data. I approximate their marriage between 1885 to 1990 on. I was quite pleased and surprised to have discovered my great-grandmother's maiden name of HODGE. This was a big door to open.
