FEDERICO ADAN ATKINSON Federico Adan Atkinson, 43, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, after a brief illness in Houston. Federico will be dearly missed by his father, Federico Atkinson and his mother, Yolanda Benavidez; brother, Arnold; sister, Betty. His love and joy for life will be lacking from his nephews, Arnold Joe, Roland, Federico, and Arnold Jr.; nieces, Heather, Nicole and Hilary. Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Christian Discipleship Outreach, 351 Los Ebanos in Brownsville. A private graveside service for family members and close friends will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at Buena Vista Burial Park. ELIZA "LICHA" SHEARS GONZALEZ Oct. 20, 1919 - Feb. 27, 2006 Eliza Shears Gonzalez, 86, born in Brownsville, Texas, to William Franklin Shears and Tomasa Guzman Shears, passed away on February 27, 2006 in San Diego, California, with her family by her side. She was a resident of Port Isabel, Texas, for 45 years. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church for the last 44 years. She will always be cherished and never forgotten. She is survived by her only child, Anita Blevens, of San Diego, California. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Gracie Ann Parga, of San Diego, California, Ernesto Sepulveda of Harlingen, Texas, Mary Alice Blevens of San Diego, California, and Annette Christine Cuevas of San Diego, California. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Ruben Parga Jr. of Chula Vista, California, Anthony Parga of San Diego, California, Ernesto Sepulveda, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Leticia Ann Blancarte of San Diego, California, Steven Parga of San Diego, California, Krystal Ann Sepulveda of Harlingen, Texas, Joseph Fred Sepulveda of Harlingen, Texas, and Alexis Christine Cuevas of San Diego, California. She is also survived by six great-great-grandchildren, Ruben Joel Blancarte Jr. of San Diego, California, Nicole Parga of Chula Vista, California, Joseph Ruben Parga, of Chula Vista, California, Jadyn Parga of Chula Vista, California, Ivy Ann Blancarte of San Diego, California, and Madylen Grace Sepulveda of Houston, Texas. She was the second of 12 children. She is survived by Roberto Shears of Brownsville, Texas; Dora Shears Morales of Victoria, Texas; Socorro Shears of Brownsville, Texas; Sofia Shears Peña of Twenty-Nine Palms, California; Tomasa Shears Chavez of Brownsville, Texas; and Juanita Shears Del Bosque of Brownsville, Texas. From all her siblings, she is survived by 47 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three step-children, Artemio Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Isaura Martinez of Austin, Texas, and Hermelinda Gonzalez of Port Isabel, Texas. She is survived by 22 step-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 South Longoria Street, Port Isabel, Texas. FRANCES LIGHBOURNE DE LA PENA Frances Lighbourne De La Peña, 91, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2006 in Brownsville. Frances lived her life to the fullest, her thoughts were "miss me but let me go." She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Josephine Lightbourne; a brother, John Joseph Lightbourne; a sister, Beatrice Lightbourne; her grandaughter, Esther Vasquez and a great-grandson, Luis Ignacio Vasquez. She is survived by her sons, Ignacio Vasquez Jr. of Brownsville, Enrique Vasquez, Santos Molina Jr. of Corpus Christi, and Eduardo Molina of Austin; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, June 22, in the Darling-Mouser Chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be at 10 a.m., Friday, June 23, at St. Luke Catholic Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eduardo Molina, Santos Molina, José Daniel Vásquez, Ignacio Vásquez III, Mervyn Mosbacker, Miguel Saldaña, and Julio Lozano.
