SISTER CARMEN RODRIGUEZ, 80, of Moorhead, Minn., passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2006, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D. She was part of the Missionary Sisters of Jesus. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2006, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead, Minn. Funeral arrangements are under Korsmo Funeral Services, 409 Eighth Street South, Moorhead, Minn. 56560 (218) 233-1533. WALT O. WATERS Walt O. Waters, 78, passed from this life at his residence on Wednesday, May 31, 2006. He was born on July 11, 1927, to Walter J. and Ora Waters in Proctor, Okla. The family moved to Rio Hondo, Texas, in 1928. Walt served in the military during World War II as a paratrooper in the 11th Division of the Army. He served in Japan after the war was over. After his service, he returned to the Rio Grande Valley to join his family in their farming business. He farmed in Santa Maria on the Rio Grande River for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Janie Waters and both his parents. He is survived by his wife, Frances Green Waters; and his four children, Vicki Leggett and husband Harry from Harlingen, Texas, Randy Waters and wife Cella from Lolita, Texas, Sandra Edwards and husband Bill from Llano, Texas, and Jane Waters and husband Dick Bax from Houston, Texas. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Sean Waters, Smokey Waters, Cory Waters, Hank Waters, Brian Edwards, Kelli Edwards, Gunter Bax, Andrei Bax, Jaime Green, Ashley Green and Will Green. He is also survived by two brothers, Don Waters of Rio Hondo, Texas, and Ron Waters of Rancho Viejo, Texas; one sister, Willa Compere of Bulverde, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held today, Saturday, June 3, 2006, from noon to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2006, with the Rev. Randall Hilburn officiat-ing at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Full Mili-tary Honors conducted by the American Legion Post 43. Serving as pallbearers will be Walt's grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Ross, Moore Matthews, Jerry Hearn, Jimmy Green, Lloyd McNeil, Jay Jones, Paul Beacham, Jack Waters and Jerry Jones. REYNALDO ABREGO "EL POLLO" ESQUIBEL SR. Reynaldo Abrego "El Pollo" Esquibel Sr. was delivered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. Reynaldo is survived by his loving wife, Maria Elena Abrego of Olmito, Texas; five children, Reynaldo (Lupita) Esquibel Jr. of Brownsville, Texas, Staff Sgt. Oscar (Linda) Esquibel of Fort Hood/Killeen, Texas, Michael (Marisol) Esquibel of Olmito, Texas, Israel (Blanca) Abrego of Olmito, Texas, and Marissa Abrego (Vicente) of Olmito, Texas. Mr. Esquibel is also survived by numerous grandchildren and sib-lings, Mercedes Gracia of Olmito, Texas, Altagracia Sandoval of Rio Hondo, Texas, Enrique Esquivel of Olmito, Texas, Estanislao "Tanis" Esquivel Jr. of Brownsville, Texas, and Alfredo Loza of Richmond, Texas. Reynaldo is preceded in death by his parents, Estanislao "Tanis" Esquivel Sr. and Viviana Abrego Es-quivel. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Margarita Flores, Manuel Esquivel and Osvaldo Es-quivel. Reynaldo was born and raised in Olmito, Texas. He enjoyed the sport of baseball and had a passion for ranching. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2006, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 5, 2006, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. when the Funeral service will begin in the Chapel of Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Pallbearers will be Reynaldo Esquibel Jr., Oscar Esquibel, Michael Esquibel, Armando Gracia, Alfonso Gonzalez Jr. and Ramiro Gracia. DORA LUZ GARCIA DE BARRIOS Dora Luz Garcia de Barrios, 58 years, entered into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, June 2, 2006, at her residence in Brownsville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lazaro Garcia and Maria De La Luz Garza. Mrs. Barrios was a life-time resident of Brownsville, member of Christ the King Catholic Church and had been employed at Mari Lou Hair Salon in Brownsville. Left to mourn her death and forever cherish her memory is her loving family, husband of 35 years of marriage, Sergio Barrios Gonzalez; five children, Jose Sergio (Lorraine), Roberto Carlos, Ana Christina (Jose Herman), Luz Aurora and Mario Guadalupe; six grandchildren, Jose Sergio Jr., Karen Monique, Adriana Lee, Carla Aimee, Carlos Francisco and Jose Herman Jr.; one brother, Jose Lazaro Garcia; and one sister, Maria Cristina Garcia viuda de Mascorro. Visitations were held at Guerra Funeral Home of Brownsville on Friday, June 2, 2006. Visitations will resume on today, Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Funerales Escobedo in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Burial will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2006, with the time pending at Panteon Los Tomates. ROSA ZUNIGA Rosa Zuniga, 49, entered into eternal peace on June 1, 2006, at her residence with her family at her side. She is preceded in death by her father, Cecilio Alvarado, and her grandson, Jay Carmine Zuniga. She will be missed by her loving husband, Secundino Zuniga; mother Rita Garza; daughter Melinda Zuniga (Oscar Lara); sons Secundino Zuniga Jr. (Roxanna Balderas) and Benjamin (Cynthia) Zuniga; and a grandson, Benjamin Zuniga Jr. Mrs. Zuniga is also survived by one brother, Luis Alvarado; and sisters Maria Munoz, Graciela Moreno, Celia Alvarado, Estela Alvarado and Rita Alvarado.
