    3. The Brownsville Herald - Online Edition Obituaries June 2, 2006 ROSA ZUNIGA, 49, passed away at her residence on June 1, 2006. Funeral arrangements are pending under Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd. (956) 541-5400. AVIOLA MARTINEZ ALANIZ Faviola Martinez Alaniz, 21, went to be with her newborn baby in Heaven on Sunday, May 28, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. Survivors include her beloved husband, Victor Alaniz; her parents, Jose and Juany Martinez; her brothers, Miguel Angel Martinez (Karina) and Rafael Martinez; her maternal grandparents, Rafael Garza Nevarez and Faviola Garza; her paternal grandparents, Jose and Angelina Martinez; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Funeral services were held at Funerarias Del Rosario in Matamoros. She was laid to rest at Cemenerio San Jose in Ejido Sandoval, Tamaulipas. She will be dearly missed by all of those whose lives she touched. Faviola, you will continue to live in our hearts and memories forever. Faviola's family would like to thank all of you who have been by their side at this most difficult time. May God bless you all. MARIA C. SEPULVEDA Maria C. Sepulveda, 84, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, May 31, 2006. She is preceded in death by one son, Evaristo Melgoza. She will be missed by her loving husband, Leopoldo Sepulveda; sons, Israel (Nelly) Sepulveda, Juan (Patricia) Sepulveda, Daniel (Belen) Sepulveda, and Alejandro (Lupe) Sepulveda; and one daughter, Estela (Reynaldo) Melgoza. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. today, Friday, June 2, 2006 at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday June 3, 2006, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Commital service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. FRANCISCO CALDERON Francisco Calderon, 80, went to be with Lord Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a Brownsville native and had lived here all of his life. Francisco had worked for the City of Brownsville for 33 years prior to his retirement from the Street Department. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Ines Calderon, and a sister, Ms. Guadalupe Calderon. Francisco is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nettie R. Calderon; a son, Francisco Calderon, Jr.; five daughters, Alicia (Macedonio) Lopez, Maria Elena (Nicolas) Gonzalez, Elida (Arnold) Salinas, Norma (Jim) Guilfoyle, and Rose Marie (Pablo) Vallejo; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. today, Friday, June 2, 2006, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Treviño, Garza Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jackson St. (956) 542-5511. ROSENDO GONZALEZ Rosendo Gonzalez, 81, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center- Brownsville. He was born in Brownsville, Texas and was a life long resident. Rosendo was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a very active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucio and Josefina Garza Gonzalez, five brothers and two sisters. Rosendo is survived by his wife of 60 years, Isabel Gonzalez; a son, Rosendo (Michell) Gonzalez Jr.; four daughters, Elida Cantu, Yolanda (Arnoldo) Lopez, Grace (Dart) Risley, and Diana Meyers; a brother, Lucio Gonzalez; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today, Friday, June 2, 2006, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Don Gonzalez, Greg Cantu, Arnold Lopez, Joseph Lopez, Thomas Montes, and Dart Risley.
