    3. The Brownsville Herald - Online Edition Obituaries June 9, 2006 DOLORES QUINTANA, 79, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. She was a native of Ramirez, Durango, Mexico, and a Brownsville resident. There will be no local services. Funeral services will be held in Reynosa, Tamaulipas Mexico. GEORGE ADOLPH TEICHERT George Adolph Teichert, born June 10, 1919, in New York City passed away on June 8, 2006, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. The son of Adolph Teichert and Natalie Tietz Teichert, he graduated from the University of Florida in 1938 and returned to work for his family's business, the Brooklyn Thermometer Co., a manufacturer of precision scientific instruments. His corporate career began as a consultant for the George S. May Co., leading to industrial engineering positions for companies such as U.S. Rubber, Continental Can, Grumman Aircraft and eventually vice president of the Kentile Corp. and the Armour Co. In his retirement, he pursued a real-estate career in New Jersey and subsequently worked as a consultant traveling internationally to Ghana, Italy, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. He was a resident of Acapulco, Mexico, for 10 years before settling in Brownsville, Texas, in 1992. A former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, he was also a former member of the Art League of Brownsville. A complex man of intelligence, strong will and an exuberant love of life, he is survived by his daughter, Lynn and son-in-law James Engelland of Lake Forest, Illinois, and New York, New York; grandson Brett Engelland and Wendy Engelland of Temecula, California; and grandson Justin Engelland and Shannon Engelland of Seattle Washington; a brother, Harvey Teichert of Nesconset, New York; and his sister, Evelyn Tucker, of Boynton Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roy Teichert. A memorial funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Guerra Funeral Home Chapel of the Arch Angels, 3955 Coffee Port Road, Brownsville, Texas. His family would like to thank the Drs. Amar Bagapelli, Christopher Gill and Jamil Madi, the nursing staff of Valley Regional Medical Center and most especially Mercy Home Health director of Nurses Colleen Phillips and CNA's Diana Garcia, Nora Almador and Manuela Martinez for their tender and compassionate care. LYDIA CHAMPION WIMER Lydia Champion Wimer, 88, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. A lifetime resident of Brownsville and a member of a prominent pioneer family, she attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and worked in the Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector's office for 38 years. Mrs. Wimer was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Wimer; sister Celia Champion Samano and brother Ernest Champion. Survivors include her daughter, Lydia A. Wimer of Brownsville; brother Anthony T. Champion of Houston; and a sister, Consuelo Hinojosa of Corpus Christi. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved cat, Miss Kitty. Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7:30 p.m. today, Friday, June 9, 2006, in the Darling-Mouser Funeral Home chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2006, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Honored to serve as her pallbearers are Mike Samano, Manuel "Mel" Rodero, Pedro Galindo, Jose Maria "Chema" Gonzalez and Raymond Hinojosa Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Anthony T. Champion. Doria, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, will be celebrated today, Friday, June 9, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will follow the Mass at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Fela's family members are honored to be serving as her pallbearers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Evaristo Doria; her son, Evaristo Doria Jr.; her daughter, Sylvia Cavazos all of Brownsville and her daughter, Maria Elvia "Tia Tutu" Flores of Rio Hondo. Left to honor and celebrate her memory are her daughter, Ernestina "Tina" (Leo Sr.) Gonzalez of McAllen; and her son, Eduardo Doria of Toledo, Ohio; eight grandchildren: and six great-grandchildren. Known to her family as "Fela," she was born on September 7, 1911, and was 94 years young. She will always be remembered as a loving, thoughtful, and giving woman. Magallanes, 76, of Brownsville entered the Kingdom of Heaven surrounded by her loving family at her residence on Wednesday, June 7, 2006. She was born in Winter, Texas, in 1930 and lived part of her life in Del Rio, Texas. Subsequently, she moved to Brownsville, Texas, in 1990 where she was an active member of the West Brownsville Baptist Church. Anita is survived by her sons, Hector Magallanes, Victor Magallanes, Juan Anselmo Magallanes, and Armando Magallanes; daughters Velma Valdez, Alejandrina Magallanes and Erica Magallanes; brother Alvaro Ramirez; granddaughters Maribel Magallanes, Mireya Magallanes and Sienna Paloma Magallanes; grandsons Lucio Magallanes, Hector Magallanes Jr., Joaquin Magallanes, Seneca Magallanes, Rodolfo "Rudy" Valdez and Oscar Valdez; great-grandchildren Jonathon Magallanes and Jocelyn Galindo; sons-in-law Rodolfo Valdez Sr. and Joe De La Cruz; daughters-in-law Mary Magallanes and Ester Farias Magallanes. She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Amaro Magallanes; son Juan R. Magallanes; daughter Verenanda Magallanes; and parents Isabel Ramirez and Refugio Ramirez. Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Friday June 9, 2006, at Iglesia Bautista West Brownsville, 925 West Charles St., Brownsville, Texas 78520 with the Rev. Carlos Navarro presiding. Interment will follow to Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, Texas.
