PELAYO GONZALEZ Pelayo Gonzalez, 88 passed away on March 26, 2006, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Mr. Gonzalez was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosaura Ramirez Gonzalez; his parents; a brother, Jesus Gonzalez; and a son, Pelayo Gonzalez Jr. He is survived by his children, Roberto Gonzalez, Zandalio Gonzalez, Amelia Saldivar, Delia Hernandez, and Bertha Martinez; a brother, Arturo Gonzalez Jr.; and by his second wife, Juana Ortiz Gonzalez; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Treviño Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass time is pending for Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. His pallbearers will be his grandchildren. JOHN EDWARD RYAN John Edward Ryan was a successful man in business, family, and life. He was born November 3, 1910 in Ireland and passed away March 26, 2006. Mr. Ryan was a true example of the American dream. Having been orphaned as a child in Chicago, he was able to find his way in life and become a man blessed with successful businesses and a loving family. The two most important things in John Ryan's life were his family and his work ethic. Rising early, he was always ready to take on the tasks of the day and always with that special "spring in his step." He founded, owned and operated two companies in Brownsville, JVJ Sales and Gulf Cold Storage. Mr. Ryan was also an astute investor and continued his passion for the financial markets until his last days. Mr. Ryan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Lainson Ryan. He is survived and is much loved by his family, his daughter Jane Sebern and her husband Jack; grandchildren Stacey McCord and her husband Nicholas; Jay Sebern; Shari Sebern; and Jeffrey Sebern and his wife Pamela; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Courtney and Dakota Sebern, Ashton Sebern, and Ryan McCord. He will be remembered as a generous, devoted and strong central figure in his family and for his impact on multiple generations. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at Mont Meta. BILLY WANE FARRAR Our hearts were broken when Billy Wayne was stricken with a brain aneurysm on March 25,2006. He was a much-loved son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. He will truly be missed by so many family and friends, He was born to L.D. and Mary Jane Gann Farrar on October 5, 1944, in Port Isabel, Texas, where he attended Port Isabel schools until 1955, then the family moved to Brownsville, where he continued his education. Billy was a Vietnam War veteran, serving his country in the U S Army from 1965 to 1967. He held the position of purchasing manager for several major companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He also worked as assistant manager of Southern Star Shrimp Farm in Arroyo City, Texas. Later, he became owner of Action Construction Company in Port Isabel. Billy was a charter member of Portway Baptist Church in Brownsville, Texas, founded on December 1, 1957. Billy is survived by two daughters, Tricia (Chris) Weber of Bedford, Texas, and Trina (Jeff) Farrar-Manley of Garland, Texas; a granddaughter, Carissa Weber, and ex-wife Linda Farrar-Spain. He is also survived by his 92 year old mother, Mary Jane Farrar; brothers, Don Farrar and Larry (Ofi) Farrar, of Brownsville, and Bob (Betty) Farrar, of Olmito; sisters, Jayne (Gene) Cox, of San Benito, and Sandy Nicholas, of Olmito, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces who all loved talking to, getting advice from and swapping fish stories with their "Uncle Billy". He could swap with the best of them. Visitations will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Henry Thomae Funeral Home in San Benito. A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Henry Thomae Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Burial Park with full military honors. ROSA MARTINEZ Rosa Martinez, 79, passed away Monday, March 27, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. She was a native of Kingsville, Texas, and lifelong Brownsville resident. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Her daughter, Noelia Martinez preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Ramiro Martinez of Brownsville; one daughter, Alma R. Jimenez (Armando) of Houston, Texas; one son, Juan L. Martinez (Angelica) of Brownsville; son-in-law, Edward Martinez of Brownsville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; three sisters, Norma Martinez of Matamoros, Tamps, Olga Garcia and Oralia Leal both of Houston. Visitation will be held from 12 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Genaro T. Martinez and Joaquina Bejarano Martinez; her sisters, Antonia M. Torres, Concepcion M. Salas, Joaquina M. Marroquin, Nazaria M. Santiago, Guadalupe M. Gracia and Maria Martinez. She is survived by her loving husband Rodolfo "Rudy" Barrera of Metairie, Louisiana; her sisters, Delfina M. (Raul) Villarreal and Magdalena M.
