TENCHA DE LA PEÑA Hortencia "Tencha" M. de la Peña, 84, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2006, at her residence in Brownsville, Texas. Tencha was born in Brownsville, Texas, on March 17, 1922. After graduating from Brownsville High School, one of her first jobs was working in the Cameron County Clerk's Office. In 1978, she became the county's first Elections Administrator. She served in this capacity until her retirement in 1995. She was very blessed to have had many friends in her life. One of her favorite activities was working in her beautiful garden. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Catholic Daughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio Muñoz and Elisa Muñoz; husband, Augustin de la Peña; half-sister, Lupita Cuellar; and half-brothers, Antonio, Alberto, and Jesus. She is survived by her sons, Augustin de la Peña, Tony ( Kathy) de la Peña, David (Sandra) de la Peña, and Dan (Rose) de la Peña; one granddaughter, Denise (Tres) Hausenfluck; two grandsons, Dennis (Sally) de la Peña and Derek (Merida) de la Peña; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Olivia M. ANGELITA "ANGIE" G. VASQUEZ Angelita "Angie" G. Vasquez, 61, was received by our Lord Jesus Christ into her eternal rest on April 10, 2006. She was received by the Lord after a two month stay at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. Angie was a member of Word of God Family Church at 1944 Alton Gloor, Brownsville. Angie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Rodolfo Vega Vasquez "Rudy." Both Angie and Rudy were childhood sweethearts having graduated from The Brownsville High School Class of 1963. Angie worked for over 30 years and last served as assistant cashier of First State Bank in Mission, Texas. Angie was the oldest and a loving sister to her four brothers and two sisters whom she loved and helped raise as a second mother. She will be lovingly remembered by her caring and loving personality and her big radiant and ever- present smile. Plus her baking of cookies and breads for her family and friends. She also loved working with crafts, sewing and home decorating, especially for her two loving children, Melinda and Rudy, Jr. Among survivors are granddaughter, Anna Aalberg; parents, Estela Rivera Garcia and Adolfo Garcia of Cotula, Texas; brothers, Ruben Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, Jorge Garcia of Rio Grande City, Texas, Adolfo "Tito" Garcia Jr. of Nederland, Texas and Gabriel Garcia of Iranne, Texas; sisters, Stelia Garcia Perez and Maria Garcia Rodriguez both of San Antonio, Texas; father and mother-in-law, Alejos and Eudelia Vega Vasquez; brothers-in-law, Alex (Palmira) V. Vasquez and Alferdo (Juanita) V. Vasquez; sister-in-law, Yolanda Vasquez Rodriguez (Julio+); many first-cousins and compadres from Houston, San Antonio and Mission, Texas whom she loved as brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Virginia Rivera.
