OBITUARIES: ANDRES GALAN Andres Galan, 84, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 23, 2006 in Brownsville, Texas. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Cisneros; a daughter, Olivia Galan; and a son-in-law, Francisco Muñez. Mr. Galan is survived by his loving wife, Francisca Del Toro; four sons, Andres (Felipa) Galan, Roberto (Juanita) Galan, Antonio (Magda) Galan, and Alfredo (Elena) Galan; daughters, Maria Refugio Galan (Ciro Hernandez), Odilia Galan (Francisco Muñez), and Olivia Galan (Emeterio Ramirez); 55 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. RAFAELA GARCIA TREVINO Rafaela Garcia Treviño, 92, of Brownsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loving family by her side. "Welita or Ama," as she was known to her family and close friends, was a very loving and giving person. Her whole life was dedi-cated to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marcelino Rodriguez; parents, Celso Garcia and Felipa Treviño Garcia; a brother, Ga-bino Garcia; and sisters, Chole Garcia Salinas, Nieves Garcia Garcia, Julia Garcia Areaga and Ramona Garcia Areaga. Rafaela is survived by her loving children, Maria Lopez (Guadalupe Sr.), Raquel Alvear (+Jose Sr.), both of Brownsville, Texas, Pedro Rodriquez (Cenovia) of South Padre Island, Texas, and Juanita Mireles (Marcelino) of Port Isabel, Texas; a brother, Manuel Garcia of Houston, Texas and a sister Irene Rodriguez of McAllen, Texas. WIEDERMANN Elaine D. Wiedermann, 83, a resident of Brownsville from 1924 until 2002, died on April 23, 2006 in Waltham, Mass., where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, J. Michael Mehl and Lawrence R. Mehl. Mrs. Wiedermann, born in Houston, was the daughter of the late Isadore and Dorothy Dorfman of Brownsville, the wife of the late Jean G. Wiedermann, the mother of the late Susan E. Wiedermann and the grandmother to Charles M. Mehl, of Waltham, Mass. Mrs. Wiedermann attended The University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority and later served as President of the Junior League of Brownsville, President of Palm Village Shopping Center and Managing Partner of Dorfman Properties.
