    3. The Brownsville Herald - Online Edition Obituaries - September 12, 2006 ANTONIO VASQUEZ JR., Jr., 26, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, in Brownsville. He was a native and life long resident of Brownsville. There will be no local services. Funeral services will be held at Inhumaciones Escobedo in Matamoros. Local arrangements are under Garza Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jackson St., (956) 542-5511. RENE C. MATTERN, 65, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at his residence. He was a native of Germany and had been a Brownsville resident for numerous years. Funeral arrangements are pending under Garza Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jackson St., (956) 542-5511. RODOLFO FARIAS Rodolfo Farias, 58, passed away, Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi surrounded by his loving family. Rodolfo was a member of the U.S. Air Force for 20 years attaining the rank of senior master sergeant. He worked for the City of Austin as the general maintenance supervisor. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Alfredo Cortez. He is survived by his four children; daughter, Gina Farias (David) Garcia and three sons, Edward Farias, Raymond Farias and Richard "Ricky" Farias. He is also survived by his mother, Sara Nieto Cortez; one sister, Nora N. (Antonio) Salinas; three grandchildren, Austin Farias, Nick Renteria and Mellisa Garcia as well as two nephews Tony Salinas Jr. and Mark Salinas Visitation will be from 1 to 10 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Chapel services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Full Military Honors will be conducted by The American Legion Post 43 Veterans Honor Guard. EVANGELINA LARA Evangelina Lara, 55, entered into eternal rest, Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. Evangelina is preceded in death by her parents, Lydia R. Lopez and Abelardo O. Lopez She is survived by her fiancee, Jose Luis Murillo; brothers, Ernesto Lopez, Abelardo Lopez Jr., Rigoberto Lopez, and Lionel Lopez; sisters, Sylvia L. Stevens and Imelda L. Lopez, and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 13, 2006, at Buena Vista Funeral Home. Committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. McDonald entered into eternity on Sept. 4, 2006. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth McDonald and his brother, Jim McDonald. He left behind a brother, John McDonald and wife Roberta of Powell River, BC; sons, George Scott McDonald and wife Michelle of Rathdrum, Idaho, Lee Gobroski of Ellensburg, Wash., and his long time companion, Barbara Owens of Brownsville, Texas. He also leaves behind his adopted family, Maria Lozano, Tony Galvan and Peggy Lou Garcia whom he loved as dearly as his children and Joaquin and Claudia Garcia, Ashley and Ramon Garcia Iduarte, Juan Antonio and Marco Antonio Galvan and Fernando and Alicia Garcia and Arturo and Sarah Galvan whom he loved as his grandchildren. George was a man who loved life. Family and friends were the most important part of his life. "Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal, love leaves a memory that no one can steal." A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at Treviño Funeral Home Chapel.
