HORTENSIA ATKINSON BARRERA Hortensia Atkinson Barrera, 84, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 8, 2006, in Harlingen. Mrs. Barrera was born October 19, 1921 in San Benito to Cecilio and Dominga Arizmendiz Atkinson. She was an active member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and a member of Sacred Heart Society. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilberto Y. Barrera Sr.; her parents; and her brothers, Santos and Fernando Atkinson. Survivors include, children, Gilbert Y. Barrera Jr., Olga Galvan (Arnoldo) and Diana Atkinson Barrera; grandchildren, Veronica Gomez, Belinda Galvan, and Sandra Mendoza (Hector); two great-grandchildren, Nicolas Galvan and Carolina Gomez; sisters, Luisa Atkinson, Consuelo Atkinson, Pauline Valenzuela (+Heriberto), Lupe Agado (Manuel), and Eva Villafuerte (Francisco); a brother, Daniel Atkinson (Julia); several beloved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today Friday March 10, 2006 at San Benito Funeral Home. Recitation of the holy rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today, Friday, March 10, 2006 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes, San Benito, Texas. Leal, 61, entered into the Lords arms Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in Brownsville, Texas. Mr. Leal was a U.S. Army Veteran, who had retired from the U.S. Postal Service after working 33 years, and he was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Leal is preceded in death by his parents, Cruz and Josefina Z. Leal. Raul is survived by his wife, Beatriz M. Leal; sons, Raul A. Leal and Raul M. Leal; daughter, Diana L. Mendez; sisters, Ninfa L. Peña and Matilde L. Sandoval; numerous grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, March 10, 2006 and Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista. Visitation will resume from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista.
