    3. I will be posting extractions of several news articles and obituaries. Most do not have a newspaper name, many are undated. I am not related to many of these families. Baker-Turner Vows Repeated In Assembly Of God Church Miss LaFawn Turner became the bride of Marvin Earl Baker at 8 p.m. March 3, in the Assembly of God church. The Rev. E. L. Mason read the double-ring ceremony, which was the first wedding service performed in the new church. Palms and tall baskets of gladioli stood on either side of the altar and the couple knelt on a white satin pillow. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Turner of Brownsville and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Baker of Santa Clara, Calif. Mrs. Bert Whisnet was a the piano to play the wedding marches and prelude and to accompany Mrs. Ava Prosser as she sang "Because," "At Dawning" and "The Lord's Prayer." WORE IVORY SATIN Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory satin gown fashioned with long torso top, sweetheart neckline, and short puffed sleeves. Her long mitts were of ivory tulle trimmed with satin and her tulle veil was held by a half-hat which matched her gown. She wore brocade shoes and her pearl necklace was loaned to her by Miss Joy Allison. On a pearl-covered Bible she carried a bouquet carnations, and she also carried a small pearlized purse in which was caught a handkerchief more than 100 years old, an imported heirloom belonging to Mrs. Bill Schneider. Maid of honor was Miss Jo Anna Roberson and Miss Betty Roberson [Allison] was bridesmaid. Flower girl was Mary Roberson. All three wore formal dresses of pastel-colored taffeta. The attendants' bouquets were of pink and blue carnations. Don Lovelace of Harlingen Air Force base was best man and Royce Hagood ushered. Rocky Ham was ring bearer, carrying the rings on a pearl-trimmed white satin pillow. RECEPTION For the reception, given in the church annex, Mrs. Mary Sheppard's, Mrs. Bill Schneider, Miss Mayra Rubio and Mrs. S. Swartz served in the houseparty. A lace cloth covered the table. The cake, made by Mrs. Bill Dean, was white and decorated with pink roses and geren (sic) leaves. It was flanked on either side by lighted candles. Miss. Joy Allison entered names in the guest book. The bride's mother was dressed in pink linen with a pink hat and black accessories. She wore a lavender glamellia corsage. TO JAPAN The bride attended Brownsville High school and will continue her school work in California. The bridegroom attended Santa Clara High school and is now an Airman first class in the U.S. Air Force. He has been stationed at Harlingen Air Force base and will now be at Parks Air Force base in California. He expects to go to Japan before long, and his bride will join him there as soon as possible. Airman Baker and Mrs. Baker have now left for California. For travel she chose a pale blue linen suit and black accessories. Out of town guests were Mrs. Thomas Flynn of Corpus Christi and Miss Mary Sheppards of Oklahoma City, Okla. Mrs. Baker was honored at a miscellaneous shower on Tuesday evening in the home of Mrs. C. C. Allison.
