    3. I will be posting extractions of several news articles and obituaries. Most do not have a newspaper name, many are undated. I am not related to many of these families. EVAH HANE (sic) HOCKADAY Evah Jane Hockaday, 79, died in her residence Thursday afternoon. She was preceeded (sic) in death by her husband, Edwin T. Hockaday, in 1977. Born in Skiatook, Okla., of Cherokee descendants, Hockaday came to Brownsville with her family to start a citrus farm in the early 1920s. A long time resident of the El Jardin community, she was active in the El Jardin Parent-Teacher Association. Survivors include three sons, Don E. Hockaday, Gordon P. Hockaday, Edwin T. Hockaday, III, all of Brownsville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Darling-Mouser Chapel, 945 Palm Blvd. Reverend W.R. Aten will be officiating. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Margal Vicars, Bobby Hunter, Earl Hunter, Tommy Jeters, Richard Walker, Bud Rowan and Dr. Lee Dale Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Killion, John Paul Jones, Wallace Reed, Tommy Keller, Jerry Robertson and Marvin Fallin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home, 945 Palm Blvd.
