JACQUELYNN HAMBY COVEY Jacquelynn Hamby Covey of Greenville, Texas, beloved wife, daughter, and sister, went to her eternal rest on March 8, 2006, in Brownsville. Jackie had been ill for the past 10 years. We will never forget her beautiful smile and personality. She was born in Brownsville on November 2, 1957. She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Hamby; and her grandparents, Shelby Roberts, Lydia C. Roberts and M.P. Hamby. She is survived by her beloved husband, James Patrick Covey of Greenville; her mother, Shirley Worthington of Brownsville; her paternal grandmother, Elizabeth A. Hamby of Mount Shasta, California; her stepdaughter, Captain LaShawna Covey, stationed in South Korea; her brother, Michael Hamby of Paris, Michigan; her sister, Rhonda Williams of Brownsville; her stepsister, Gail Worthington of Brownsville; her niece, Shelby Williams of Brownsville; and many cousins. JULIANA RAMIREZ Juliana Ramirez, 67, born in 1939 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 9, 2006, in Brownsville, Texas. She was a member of San Eugenio De Mazenod Catholic Church and a Eucharistic minister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Petra Valdez and Tiburcio Gallegos; a brother, Domingo Gallegos; and two sisters, Salome Gallegos and Maria Hinojosa. She is survived by her loving husband, Juan Ramirez Jr.; sons Juan Carlos (Nancy) Ramirez, Julio Cesar (Gregoria) Ramirez, and Jaime Christobal (Minerva) Ramirez; a sister, Petra Ramirez; two brothers, Jose and Tiburcio Gallegos; and nine grandchildren, Vanessa Renee Ramirez, Juan Carlos Ramirez Jr., Felix R. HORTENSIA ATKINSON BARRERA Hortensia Atkinson Barrera, 84, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord Wednesday March 8, 2006 in Harlingen. Mrs. Barrera was born October 19, 1921, in San Benito to Cecilio and Dominga Arizmendiz Atkinson. She was an active member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and member of Sacred Heart Society. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilberto Y. Barrera Sr., her parents and her brothers, Santos and Fernando Atkinson. Survivors include children Gilbert Y. Barrera Jr., Olga Galvan (Arnoldo) and Diana Atkinson Barrera; grandchildren Veronica Gomez, Belinda Galvan, and Sandra Mendoza (Hector); two great-grandchildren, Nicolas Galvan and Carolina Gomez; sisters Luisa Atkinson, Consuelo Atkinson, Pauline Valenzuela (+Heriberto), Lupe Agado (Manuel) and Eva Villafuerte (Francisco); and a brother, Daniel Atkinson (Julia). Several beloved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews also survive Mrs. Barrera. "Grandma will be remembered for her unconditional love. You gave us wings and made us fly, you touched our hands, we could touch the sky. We were blessed because we were loved by you." GRACE HARRIET FREITAG Grace Harriet Freitag, 68, entered into eternal rest with the Lord Friday morning, March 10, 2006, in Brownsville, Texas. Grace and her husband, Leonard, were missionaries in Bolivia before moving to Brownsville in 1980 where she was a school nurse at Garza and Aiken Elementary schools for 17 years. She was a member of Wesleyan Evangelical Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Trosen and Grace Hulst; sister Dori; and brother Robert. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years of marriage, Leonard Freitag; two sons, Douglas Freitag and wife Chris and Gregory Freitag and wife Erendira; eight grandchildren, Sam, Monique, Shayla, Luke, Lydia, Lee, Rosemary and Isaac; five brothers; Dirk, Ferd, Herman, Jack and Dave; four sisters, Evelyn, Bernice, Janet and Janice. KIM DANE JENSEN Kim Dane Jensen, 54, died peacefully at his residence in Brownsville, Texas, on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. He dedicated his life to teaching and the arts. Born in Southern California on May 20, 1951, he met and married Karen Joy Carter after graduating from the University of California in Riverside. Kim and Karen were successful and popular teachers in the Las Vegas School system for many years and shared a passion for music, travel and dining. Kim was distinguished for his talent in black and white photography. In 1997, after his wife's death, he moved to Brownsville, Texas, to be close to his sister, Kaaran, and her family and was employed by BISD. Kim is preceded in death by his father, Axel Einar Jensen, mother Johanna Oline Sorenson and wife Karen Joy Carter. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved family; his sister, Kaaren French; brother-in-law, Charles M. French of Brownsville, Texas; nieces Ursula Maldonado of Ft. Belvore, Va., and Jennifer Fisher of Clayton, Calif.; nephews Michael French of Bowie, Md., Steven French of Edinburg, Texas, Jonathan French of Brownsville, Texas, and Hamish French of Port Arthur, Texas.
