CHARLES LAMONT CARTER Charles Lamont Carter, 95, of Harlingen, died Saturday at a nursing home in Harlingen. A native of Washnorn, Ark., he previously lived in San Diego, Texas and moved to Brownville in 1940. He had retired as supervisor for Cameron County with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was a resident of Harlingen for 20 years. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Sloan in 1983. Survivors include his wife, Malvina Carter; two daughters, Ruth Maurine Prescitt and Maxine Kibbe all of Harlingen; a son, Franklin L. Carter of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Jewel Carter of Pearsall, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mont Meta Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Beene officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home of Harlingen.
