MARIA JOSEFINA SALINAS Maria Josefina Salinas, 76, entered into eternal rest Monday, February 13, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Salinas is preceded in death by her father, Jose Flores; brothers; and sisters. She is survived by her children; three daughters, Maria G. Salinas, Elvia (Ernie) Sandoval and Diana Sanchez and a son, Alberto (Nora) Salinas Jr.; five beautiful grandchildren, Leah Marie (Mark) Johnson, Ana (Gabriel) Cardenas, Amanda Farmer, Sara Beth Stith, and Brenda Diana Sanchez; and numerous great-grandchildren. ARMANDINA AZOCAR Armandina Azocar, 51, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Monday, February 13, 2006, at her residence in Brownsville, Texas, with her loving family by her side. She is preceded in death by her father, Felix Tamez. Mrs. Azocar is survived by her loving husband of 34 years of marriage, Armando Azocar Sr. of Brownsville; her mother, Socorro Tamez of Poteet, Texas; three children, Elizabeth Azocar Venzor (Jose) of Oklahoma, Armando Azocar (Sandra) of San Benito, and Rene O. Azocar of Brownsville; grandchildren Liz, Ruben, Mona, Crystal, Mayela, Armando III, Alfredo, Alexandria and one on the way. Also surviving Mrs. Azocar are four brothers, Martin Tamez of Tampico, Mexico, Javier Tamez of Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico, Orlando Tamez and Hector Tamez of Poteet, Texas; and two sisters, San Juana Rosales and Arcilia Tamez of Poteet, Texas. EMILIO FLORES Emilio Flores entered into the loving arms of the Lord at the age of 67 years on Monday, February 13, 2006 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Mr. Flores was born on December 27, 1938, to Cirilo Flores and Bertha Reyes de Flores. He is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 40 years of marriage, Dalila Flores; his five children, Alma Alcala, Juan Emilio Flores, Bertha Garay, Julissa Guerrero and Jose Cirilo Flores; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren all of Brownsville, Texas; two brothers, Guillermo Flores and Jose Flores; three sisters, Maria Solis, Margarita Arriaga and Angelita Perez. Visitations were held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Guerra Funeral Home Chapel of The Holy Family. PATRICIA ELLEN (REWERTS) HILL Patricia Hill, 60, passed away at her home on the Island, Sunday, February 12, 2006. She was born in San Francisco, California, on May 30, 1945, but grew up in her hometown of Danville, Illinois. Pat was married to her husband, Larry, for 40 years. After moving from Danville, the family lived in Richmond, Kentucky; Greenville and Lenoir, North Carolina; and Houston, Texas, before finally moving to South Padre Island in 2000. Patricia graduated from Danville High School in 1963. She earned a B.A. degree in Speech Correction/ Special Education from Eastern Illinois University and an M.A. degree in Educational Administration from Illinois State University. She worked at the elementary school level with Trainable Mentally Handicapped students in Danville School District 118. Patricia then accepted the position as the district's first Title VII director. After a hiatus to spend time with her daughters, she returned to Danville High School as a teacher for the Educable Mentally Handicapped while continuing her own education earning Rank One toward a doctorate. She retired from her education profession when she moved to Kentucky with her family. Some of her joys were reading, book-collecting, Oriental art and furniture, antique jewelry, architecture and treasure-hunting. She enjoyed listening to and collecting music, watching any and all sports events (especially those in which her daughters and grandson competed), solving puzzles and playing games. Patricia was a determined spirit throughout her life, working hard at everything important to her. She was the nucleus of her family and always provided her home as a central locale for the gatherings of loved ones. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Paul Robert Rewerts. She is survived by her mother, Kathleen Kennedy Rewerts; husband Larry B. Hill; daughter Heather Hill Alford (and grandson Jess Burks Alford IV); daughter Courtney Anne Hill (and granddaughter Hazel Berlin Hill); sister Jill A. Stewart (and nephew Kai Stewart and niece Anna Tien Stewart); brother Gregg R. Rewerts (and niece Mindy Kohn (grandnephew Spencer Kohn and grandniece Alexa Kohn) and niece Sara Clark); brother Gary R. Rewerts; and mother-in-law Betty L. Trosper. Graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006, at Mont Meta Cemetery, San Benito, Texas.
