MERCEDES ROSA RUENES, 91, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Valley Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Olmito was a Brownsville resident. Lugo went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2006, peacefully at his residence. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23 He was an extraordinary and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Left to mourn his memory are his beloved wife, Concepcion Lugo; his daughter, Enna M. Lugo; his grandson, Alexander Zorola Lugo; his mother, Ester Lugo Constante; and seven brothers and sisters. A Mass in his memory will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St., in Brownsville. Funeral services were held at Capillas Del Rosario in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. CRUZ CAMACHO Cruz Camacho, 67, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. He is preceded in death by his father, Gilberto R. Camacho; mother Simona Z. Camacho; and a brother, Jesus Medrano. Mr. Camacho is survived by his loving wife, Ursula M. Camacho; children Oscar C. Mireles (Eloisa), Eva C. Hernandez (Juan) and Alvina Camacho, all of Brownsville, and Martin Camacho (Sara) of Edinburg; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Among the survivors are his brothers, Lorenzo Medrano of Brownsville, Isaac Z. Camacho of Port Isabel, Lucio Z. Camacho of Austin, Frank Z. Camacho of Dallas, Quirino Z. Camacho of Raymondville, Adan Z. Camacho and Domingo Z. Camacho, both of Port Isabel; sisters Maria Cirilda Bella and Amalia Camacho of Washington, Herlinda Lock of Port Isabel and Lydia Heald of Austin. Mr. Camacho was a member of the American Legion in Port Isabel, Post 498, conducted by Indalencio Lopez. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Chapel service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Committal service to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. PAULINE H. SALAZAR Pauline H. Salazar, 50, entered into eternal rest on January 30, 2006, in Copperas Cove, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Hamby and Paula Martinez Hamby. Most of her life she served in the food service for the military and also worked in the Courses of Clear Creek Golf Course in Fort Hood, Texas. She is survived by her husband, U.S. Army retired, Ventura Salazar; son Eddie V. Salazar; brother, William Hamby Jr. of Pidcoke, Texas; sisters Yolanda Rodriguez of Copperas Cove, Texas, Patricia Hamby Villarreal and Rosemary Hamby, both of Brownsville, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jesse Daniels Salazar, Robert Ventura Salazar and Felicia Marie Salazar, all of Copperas Cove, Texas. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2006 at St. Luke Catholic Church with cremation to follow. Serving as Mrs. Salazar's pallbearers will be Ponciano Villarreal, William Hamby Jr., William Hamby III, Eddie V. Salazar, Guadalupe Salazar and Greg Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Hamby, Tony Hamby, Raymundo Salazar, Jesus Martinez, Miguel Salazar and Mark Salazar.
