LYDIA RIOS, 66, of Brownsville passed away on May 2, 2006, at Valley Grande Manor. There will be no local services. Funeral services will be held at Jardin de la Paz in Valle Hermoso, Mexico. OBITUARIES JOSE GUADALUPE "EL BOBBY" ROSALES Jose Guadalupe "El Bobby" Rosales, 51, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2006, in Palestine, Texas. He was born in Brownsville where he was also a life long resident. Survivors include his wife, Elisa Rosales; two daughters, Connie Marie of Houston and Debbrah Rosales of California; mother Concepcion Rivera of Brownsville; a brother, Francisco "Marta" Rosales; and a sister, Dalia Villafana both of Brownsville. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at the Delta Chapel. Cremation will follow. JUAQUIN "JACK" ATKINSON Juaquin (Jack) Atkinson, 26, was born on July 5, 1979, to Ofelia O. and the late Adolfo Atkinson and entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 1, 2006. He was presently employed at Big Lots in Harlingen. He was preceded in death by his baby son, Dylan Thomas Atkinson. He is survived by his wife, Ella M. Atkinson, and children Logan A. and Brianna Nicole Atkinson; mother Ofelia O. and Alfredo Torres; four sisters, Elizabeth and Kristy Atkinson, Dolly Sandoval and Vanessa Torres; a niece, Clarissa Camarillo; nephews Dustin Adolfo and Jacob Daniel Sandoval and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Visitations will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday May 3, 2006, at San Benito Funeral Home Chapel A. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on May 4, 2006, at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Rio Hondo with the Rev. Mario A. Castro officiating. Interment to follow at La Leona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John B. Ortega, Michael Rodriguez, Ricardo Marin, Manuel Sandoval, Victor Rodriguez, Danny Moreno, Raul Camarillo and Frank Hernandez. ELIZABETH "BETTY" HARDEE ZANDER July 23, 1936 - April 18, 2006 Elizabeth "Betty" Hardee Zander, born July 23, 1936, in Jacksonville, Fla., passed away in her home on April 18, 2006, after a lengthy illness. She was a longtime resident of Morgan City, La., and Brownsville, Texas. Her parents, Noble and Julia Elizabeth Smith Hardee, preceded her in death. Betty graduated from the University of Houston and taught in Brownsville ISD for two years and in the St. Mary Parish School System for 22 years. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City and was a member of the "Come Lord Jesus" Bible study group. Survivors include her husband, Charles "Chuck" Robert Zander Sr.; daughters Julia Alexis Garcia of Marietta, Ga., Mary Victoria "Vicki" Garcia Newton of Lafayette and Lisa Suzanne Garcia Mire of Morgan City; stepchildren Cindy Zander Salathe of Robert, Carolyn Zander of Ponchatoula, Charles Zander Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., and Jeff Zander of Hammond; sons-in-law Glenn Newton, Ronnie Mire and Wayne Salathe; and daughters-in-law Mary Zander and Laura Zander. Other survivors include her sister, Suzanne Hardee Trice of Center Point, Texas; uncles Marvin Hardee Sr. of Morgan City and James A. Smith of Wimberley, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Betty will be missed by her family, friends and all the many people whose lives she touched. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 21, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. Burial followed in the Morgan City Cemetery. The following men from her "Come Lord Jesus" Bible study group served as pallbearers: Herman Bailey, Larry Bergeron, Bob Brown, Earl Duval, Gene Gaudet and Roy Simoneaux. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Granier, Leon Kahn, Ferris Romaire and Roch Streva. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Morgan City Public Library, P.O.
