BILL RICE Bill Rice, 79 years old, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 14, 2006, after a lengthy illness. He owned several businesses in Olmito and Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Princeine Rice of Olmito, his daughter; Patty Rice and his son-in-law Rex Williams of Olmito; his son, Dan Rice and his daughter-in-law Connie Rice of North Carolina; three grand-sons, Chad, Casey and Chase Rice of North Carolina and two sisters, Betty and Eloise of Florida and one brother, Bob Rice of Ohio. Guadalupe Gracia, Sr. 64, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Friday, May 13, 2006 at his resi-dence in Brownsville. He is survived by his loving family: his mother Vicenta Resendez Gracia, wife Maria Ramos Gracia, 3 sons, Ernesto Gracia, Jesus Gracia & Guadalupe Gracia, Jr.; 2 daughters, Maria Iliana Gracia Cervantes & Laura Leticia Johnson & numerous other relatives. GEORGE MACMILLAN PALMER George MacMillan Palmer died on May 12, 2006, in Austin, Texas, after a lengthy illness. He was 63. George was preceded in death by his father Melvin E. "Duke' Palmer and his mother Mary Elizabeth Palmer, both of Brownsville, Texas. He is survived by his wife Karen, his son, Jon-Erik, his daughter Doria (Timothy) Whetstone, and grandsons Timmy and Eli Whetstone, all of Austin. He is also survived by his sister, Catherine "Kitty" Palmer of San Antonio, Texas, and brother Earle Palmer of Olmito, Texas, and nephew David Gary of Austin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in England and Brazil. George was a graduate of Brownsville High School, and was a member of the Golden Eagle Band. Af-ter serving in the U.S. Navy, he studied at Texas A&I, Kingsville, the University of Texas at Austin, graduating from the University of Houston. He worked several years in Canada, then returned to Texas to the lower Rio Grande Valley, and ultimately was a psychologist with the Criminal Justice Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety in Austin. George had a wide spectrum of interest; he loved classical music, was an avid supporter of Austin Symphony and Austin Lyric Opera, loved mariachi music, and had an active interest in the sciences. Gober, passed away May 13, 2006 in Brownsville, Texas. Jack was born October 2, 1937, in Throckmorton, Texas, to Emmett and Lometa Gober. Jack graduated from Throckmorton High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1956 until September 1959 and was stationed in Korea. He moved to Brownsville in 1999 and enjoyed his retirement. Survivors include his wife Yolanda C. Gober of Brownsville, a daughter Jacqueline Kay McCollum of Fort Worth, brothers and sisters-in-law Charles and Sharon Gober of Throckmorton, Jay and Becky Gober of Graham, stepchildren Kellie Morton of Fort Worth, Eduardo (Alma) Rubio, Lorena (Roy) Trox-ell, Jorge Carlos Rubio, Carmina and Diana Cazarin of Brownsville, grandkids Taylor, Giovanni, Cristian, Giancarlo, Roy Jr., Eddie, Brittney, Katarina, Sally Lazaro and Jorge Carlos Jr. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. today, Monday, May 15, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista in Brownsville. Garza, 85, passed away Saturday afternoon in Brownsville. Survivors include: seven sons, Juan Lozano, Lorenzo Lozano, Miguel Garza, Jose Angel Garza, Guadalupe Garza, Eliseo Garza and Adan Garza; three daughters, Aurora Cortez, Maria Hernandez and Eva Ramirez. Mrs. Garza was preceded in death by her husband Raul Garza Sr. in 1963 and her son Raul Garza Jr. in 2004. Sotuyo, 74, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 13, 2006, Valley Baptist Medical Cen-ter in Brownsville. He was in the 18th Regimental Combat Team Airborne Ranger, Korean Conflict, 1951-1953. He is preceded in death by his parents Cecilio Sotuyo and Juanita L. Sotuyo, a son Danny Sotuyo. Mr. Sotuyo is survived by his wife Esther; children Gilbert Sotuyo Jr. (Terry), Maggie Hartigan (Paul), Gloria Flesner (Will), Rosy Lewis, Norma de la Garza, Joey Sotuyo, Jimmy (Leti) Sotuyo. Among the survivors are brothers and sisters; Cecilia Muñoz, Ernestina Tamez, Estaban Sotuyo, Maria Zuñiga and Federico Treviño.
