    3. The Brownsville Herald - Online Edition Obituaries May 21, 2006 GAYLE A. PALMER Gayle A. Palmer of Olmito, Texas, died Friday, May 19, 2006, in San Antonio after a long illness. She was 70 years old. Her father, Stanley John Anderson, and her mother, Evelyn Anderson of Detroit, Mich., preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Earle Palmer of Olmito; daughter Penny (Roddy) Calicott; grandsons Joshua, Jacob and Caleb Calicott of Griffin, Ga.; son Patrick Herbert of Holly, Mich. She is survived also by her stepdaughters, Catherine Snow and her children Alana and Stephen in Cambridge, England, and Mary Elizabeth Verssen and her children Nicole and Martha of Salvador, Brazil. Gayle had resided in the Olmito-Brownsville area for the past 30 years. She had been employed by CTS and later by Sprague Electric as a work factor analyzer. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Special thanks go to Kitty Palmer. There will be no local services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Alzheimer's foundation. Funeral arrangements are by Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, (210) 533-5300. MR. LESLIE BONHAM SR. Mr. Leslie Bonham Sr. passed away peacefully on May 17, 2006, in Houston, Texas, where he lived the last 13 years. Les was born in Paris, Texas, on Oct. 10, 1904. He lived in Brownsville from 1942-1992 and taught at Texas Southmost College where he headed the business administration department. Les was preceded in death by his wife, Othel. He is survived by his daughter, Kay Bonham of Houston; son Leslie Bonham and wife Nora of Houston; and son Sam Bonham and wife Barbara of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his special cherished friend Mary Hicks of Brownsville. A graveside memorial service will be held at a future date in Brownsville. MAX SIMPSON EMERY JR. Max Simpson Emery Jr. passed into God's hands on April 22, 2006, at the Kerrville Veterans Medical Center in Kerrville, Texas. His passing was a result of numerous complications arising from his service in Vietnam. Max was born in El Paso, Texas, on Nov. 3, 1944. Most of his young life was spent in Brownville, Texas, graduating from Stell Junior High in 1961, Brownsville High School in 1964 and Texas Southmost College in 1966. After a stint in the Army, he returned to the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a degree in accounting. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for many years and then in the private sector as an accountant. He last worked in Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Max S. Emery Sr., and his mother, Evelyn Jean Pruitt. Max is survived by his two children, Kevin Michael Emery of Madison, Wis., and Sheryl Lynn Emery of Sun Prairie, Wis.; three grandchildren; his sister, Marion Whitehurst of Ovalo, Texas; two nieces; two nephews; four great-nieces; and five great-nephews. As per Max's wishes, family and friends will gather in the summer to spread his ashes in the Gulf of Mexico. The Brownsville Herald 1135 E.
