Max Simpson Emery Jr. passed into God's hands on April 22, 2006, at the Kerrville Veterans Medical Center in Kerrville, Texas. His passing was a result of numerous complications arising from his service in Vietnam. Max was born in El Paso, Texas, on November 3, 1944. Most of his young life was spent in Brownville, Texas, graduating from Stell Junior High in 1961, Brownsville High School in 1964 and Texas Southmost College in 1966. After a stint in the Army, he returned to the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a degree in accounting. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for many years and then in the private sector as an accountant. He last worked in Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Max S. Emery Sr., and his mother, Evelyn Jean Pruitt. Max is survived by his two children, Kevin Michael Emery of Madison, Wis., and Sheryl Lynn Emery of Sun Prairie, Wis.; three grandchildren; his sister, Marion Whitehurst of Ovalo, Texas; two nieces; two nephews;. four great-nieces and five great-nephews. As per Max's wishes, family and friends will gather in the summer to spread his ashes in the Gulf of Mexico. JACK WALLER JR. Jack Waller Jr., 52, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Sunshine Haven, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the first child born to Jane and Jack Waller on October 17, 1953, in Brownsville, Texas. Jack graduated from Brownsville High School in 1971 and joined the U.S. Navy. He was educated and trained in New York, Conn., and San Diego, Calif., to work on nuclear submarines and sent to Scotland for one year. Upon discharge in 1976 he worked in the fishing industry and from 1981 to 2004 was owner of Waller Boat Corp. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn; children Stephanie Waller, Jacqulyn Pedraza (Isaac), Wendy Garza (Pete) and Sherry Farris (Lee); his mother, Jane Harmon(Gene); his father, Jack Waller Sr. (Linda); brother Mike Waller(Joy); sister DeAnna Cole; father-in-law and mother-in-law Floyd and Earline Mizzles; sister-in-law Paula Pueblitz; brothers-in-law Ronnie, Karl, and Tommy Mizzles; grandchildren Justin Robles, Chrisanie and Madalyn Diaz, Anthony and Jacob Garza, Evan Pedraza and Sydney Farris. His family loved Jack dearly, and he will forever be remembered. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 29, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Joe Treviño I. Garza Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jose Angel Barreda Sr., 89, of Brownsville entered into eternal rest on May 24, 2006, in Brownsville. A Brownsville native, he attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, was employed by the city of Brownsville for 21 years as foreman of the street department and was an Army veteran of World War II. Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique Barreda and Leonor Pizana Garza, and an aunt, Isabel G. Longoria. He is survived by his wife, Rafaela A. Barreda of Brownsville; eight daughters, Mary B. (Ricardo) Gomez of Brownsville, Isabel B. (Thomas) Garcia, Maria de los Angeles B. Beers, both of Chula Vista, Calif., Esperanza Leonor B. (Hiram) Salgado of Brownsville, Cruz B. (Jose Angel) Gracia of Fort Worth, Texas, Rosa Sofia B. (Roberto) Garzon of Rowlett, Texas, Mary B. (Pedro) Martinez of Harlingen, Texas, Clara C. (Chris Robichaux) Pizana of Falls Church, Va.; four sons, Jose Angel Barreda, Jr. of Rowlett, Texas, Jesse (Mary Ann) Barreda and Manny (Maricela) Barreda of Brownsville and Armando (Rebecca) Marquez of Houston; 36 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will begin today Sunday, May 28, 2006, at 9 a.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. in the Darling-Mouser Chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 29, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Burial will be held at Panteon Los Tomates in Matamoros, Tamps. under the direction of Escobedo Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jose Angel Barreda Jr., Jesse Barreda, Manny Barreda, Armando Marquez, Richard Gomez Jr., Leo Gomez, Andres Salgado and Jacob J. Barreda. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post Honor Guard today, Sunday, May 28, 2006, at 7:20 p.m. at Darling-Mouser East Chapel.
