MICHAEL EDWARD VERA Michael Edward Vera, 13, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 at his residence in Brownsville. Michael is survived by his parents, Everardo Jr. and Corina F. Vera; sister, Jazmin L. Vera; twin brother, Matthew Everett Vera; paternal grandparents, Everardo Sr. and Gloria Montalvo Vera; maternal grandparents, Juan E. and Dorothy Flores; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members. Ochoa, 69, passed away at his residence Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006. He was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and had been a resident of Los Fresnos, Texas for many years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Benito Ochoa and a sister, Goya Ochoa. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Josefina G. Ochoa; six daughters, Janie Cisneros, Ana Solis, Rosie Garza, Olga Cisneros, Yolanda Ochoa, and Josie Ochoa; five sons, Agustin, Eloy, Jesus Jr., Joey, and Steven Ochoa; one sister, Andrea Ochoa; one brother, David Ochoa ; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nephews, nieces and other relatives. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at Abundant Life Church, 299 W. Ocean Blvd. in Los Fresnos, Texas. Jackson St., (956) 542-5511. ROBERT WOLCOTT STONE Robert Wolcott Stone was born Nov. 27, 1926, in San Antonio, Texas to Ralph and Marguerite Bernsteil Stone. Bob graduated from Brownsville High School and served in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean Conflict, where he earned the bronze star medal for valor. He went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin before serving 22 years as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent stationed in Arizona and Brownsville, Texas. Bob was also a rancher and raised quarter horses. During his lifetime he enjoyed many different artistic pursuits that included woodcarving, caning, and antique refurbishing. He was featured on the television series Texas Country Reporter for his distinguished work in furnishing the officers' quarters at Fort Martin Scott. Antique items that could not be found for the fort, Bob researched and replicated himself. Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert Stephen Stone. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Freda Rusteberg Stone; by sisters, Jean Perkins of Brownsville and Janice Rovello of Houston; his son, Michael of San Benito; daughters, Jessica and Margaret (husband John Staton) of Victoria; five grandchildren, Ann Brogger (husband David) of Victoria, Stephen Stone of Fort Bragg N.C., Sam McLaurin of Victoria, Kate Haas of Victoria, and Celia Frida Stone of San Benito; and one great- grandchild, Eve Brogger. A family service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19th at the Rosewood Funeral Home in Victoria, Texas. ERIC SCOTT HUFFINE WORD Eric Scott Huffine Word, 37, died on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 29, 1968 in Stockton, Calif. to Richard and Mary Carolyn Huffine Word. He had lived in Woodward, Tuttle, Norman and Oklahoma City for many years. Eric worked for the Oklahoma State Health Department as supervisor in the Shipping and Receiving Dept. He adored his grandparents and loved his cat "Meek". His grandparents Lucille Huffine, Idys Frank Turner, Anna Turner and Marshall Word, preceded him in death. Survivors include, his mother, Mary Carolyn Huffine Word Roller of Harlingen, Texas; his father, Richard Word of Oklahoma City; a brother, Joshua Word and his wife Veronica of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Kirsten Word of Harlingen, Texas; a niece, Emily Word of San Diego, Calif.; grandparents, H.V. Huffine and wife Joan of La Feria, Texas, and Elta Word of Oklahoma City; aunt, Becky Ernest and husband Melvin of Norman; uncles, Jimmy Finley Huffine of Grapevine, Texas; Bill Turner and wife Lou of Tuttle and Bill Word and wife Janie of Enid; great aunts, Eletha Jessup of Tuttle, Norma Ruth White of Noble, Okla., Lucille Anna Huffine of Lawton, Okla.; great uncle, Jim Huffine of Ann Arbor, Mich.; numerous cousins and friends.
