The Brownsville Herald - Online Edition Obituaries, August 9, 2006 EUSEBIO CASTILLO LOPEZ Eusebio Castillo Lopez, 81, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. He was born on Dec. 16, 1924, in Pautlan, Puebla, Mexico. He is preceded in death by a sister. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years of marriage, Micaela Lopez; a daughter, Eulalia Lopez of Brownsville; three sons: Eusebio Lopez of Yuma, Ariz., Manuel Lopez of Plano, Texas, and his youngest son, Eusebio Lopez of Puebla, Mexico. He is also survived by three brothers, three sisters, all of Brownsville, and four grandchildren. A visitation and a holy rosary were held on Tuesday. A chapel service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Delta North Chapel. Entombment will follow at Buena Vista Mausoleum Chapel of Peace. DANIEL GONZALEZ Daniel Gonzalez, 68, went to be with the Lord Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Valley Regional Medical Center. Daniel worked for Marathon LeTourneau at the Port of Brownsville since 1970 and later retired from AmFELS. In the 1960s, he worked for several dredging companies and participated in dredging operations along the Texas Gulf Coast from Houston/Galveston to the Brownsville Ship Channel. He loved working in the maritime industry and was a true do-it-yourselfer who enjoyed working on home improvement projects all his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Adriana Garza, Daniel Gonzalez and Silveria Garza. He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena Gonzalez; his children, Daniel Gonzalez III (Cristina), Lupita G. Vera (Mario), and Lucy Garza (Jose); seven grandchildren; his brothers, Roberto Olvera and Juan Gonzalez; and a sister, Evangelina Villegas; and numerous other family members. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Garza, 45, entered into eternal rest with the Lord Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Brownsville Nursing & Rehab Center. Mr. Garza is survived by his loving wife, Leonora Garza; stepson, Luis Alberto Rodriguez; two sisters-in-law: Maria Sylvia Barragan and Maricela Rangel; three brothers-in-law: Jorge Rodriguez, Juan Pablo Jaime and Jose Reyes; an uncle, Esteban Molina; an aunt, Maria de la Luz Molina; and two sisters: Raquel Gutierrez and Bertha Gutierrez. Visitations and a holy rosary were held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006. LOIS EARLE ATEN Lois Earl Aten, 71, long time resident and piano teacher, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at Valley Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. The daughter of Earl and Maude Hamilton, she was born April 16, 1935, in Shattuck, Okla., where she was raised and graduated from high school. She began taking private piano lessons at an early age and was the pianist for the First Christian Church there from the time she was 16 when she began her piano teaching career, which continued for 55 years. She attended Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City and was married to the Rev. Wilbur R. Aten in April 1955, living in Peabody, Kan., Pierre, S.D., and Borger, Texas, prior to moving to Brownsville in 1967. During the nearly 40 years she lived in Brownsville, she taught a number of ladies Bible study classes. A member of the Texas Music Teachers Association and an active member of the American College of Musicians, in addition to her piano teaching, she was chairman of the National Piano Guild Auditions locally for many years, participating in numerous musical activities throughout the Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents. Having departed this life, she leaves her husband of 51 years; four sons: Mark, of Los Fresnos; Scott and his wife, Lisa, of Cleburne, Texas; Lane and his wife, Mary, of Brownsville; and Todd and his wife, Leigh, of Brownsville; two granddaughters: Lindsay and Kelsay Aten, of Cleburne; one brother, Dale and his wife, Annette, of Hinton, Okla.; one niece, Andrea Hamilton Wendorf, of Dallas, Texas; other relatives, friends and her piano students who will miss her greatly. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Buena Vista Funeral Home, 125 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at International Christian Center, 2855 Paredes Line Road, Brownsville. Graveside services will be held privately. Honorary pallbearers will be Andreas Lewis, James Gale, Patrick Senior and Ralph Wellington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the International Seamen's Center, P.O.
