    3. The Brownsville Herald - Online Edition Obituaries, August 28, 2006 VIRGINIA CERVANTES[/b], 64, of San Benito, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center. DOROTHY GRACE STOVALL SHARPE Dorothy Grace Stovall Sharpe, 94, of Forth Worth, a life-long wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and a strong Christian believer and faithful church member died on Friday, August 25, 2006. Dorothy Sharpe was born on June 19, 1912 on Fort Apache, Arizona Indian reservation. She had a great sense of humor and always said, "I was born on an Indian reservation on emancipation day for the slaves in Texas before Arizona became a state." She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge T. Gilbert Sharpe and her parents Henry and Floye Leslie Stovall. She is survived by her three children, Thomas Gilbert Sharpe, Jr. of Brownsville, John (Mary) Sharpe of Fort Worth, Sharon (Jim) Lemons of Pflugerville; 11 grandchildren, Carlyle Sharpe of Springfield, Mo., Steele (Nece) Sharpe of Las Vegas, Nev., James Gilbert Sharpe of Broomfield, Colo., Tracy (Colin) McNeese of Frisco, Texas, Leslie Sharpe Zvitt of Chicago, Ill., Emily (Brian) Warren of Fort Worth, Texas, Elizabeth (Landry) Burdine of Aledo, Texas, Elaine Sharpe of Houston, Texas, John Christian Michael Sharpe of Fort Worth, Texas, John (Debbie) Lemons of Houston, Texas, Kelly Jeanne Lem-ons of Austin, Texas and seven great-grandchildren. Dorothy and Gilbert Moved to Brownsville from San Antonio in January of 1946. The following Sunday, she and her hus-band, joined the Methodist Church. She continued to be active in the First United Methodist Church until she moved to Fort Worth in August 2003. Dorothy and Gilbert founded the Wesleyan Fellowship Sunday School class which Gilbert taught for twenty-three years. Dorothy was always active in the Sunshine Circle and was the president of the United Methodist Women and taught Bible School. Other community activities that she was involved in over the years were The Brownsville Junior Service League and the Cameron County Bar Association auxiliary. Dorothy was an avid bridge player from the age of sixteen years old. She played in many foursomes and in tournament play at the Valley Inn and Country Club. For many years she played in her Wednesday foursome, the "Golden Girls Club" with Carol Champion, Gay Roberson and Guilda Cameron. Dorothy was a great cook and was always the first to bring her rum cake, chicken spaghetti or lace cookies to friends who had a birthday or just needed a lift. Dorothy's friends were always a priority with her. She always kept up with them through the telephone, letters and the many cards she sent for birthdays and anniversaries. She will be greatly missed by her family. They will always remember her for her faithfulness to God, the love of her church, and as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The entire time she was ill, she always kept her sense of humor and she had a great inner strength. Dorothy left a wonderful legacy for her family and friends and she will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Brownsville at a date to be announced. Inter-ment will be at noon Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville.
