Victor Manuel Rios Sr., 49, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. Visitations will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Guerra Funeral Home, Chapel of the Arch Angels. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Guerra Funeral Home of Brownsville, 3955 Coffee Port Road, (956) 544-1171. GREG E. PYE Greg E. Pye, 52, passed away Monday, July 24, 2006, at his residence in Harlingen after a courageous battle with cancer. Greg was born July 24, 1954, in Dallas, Texas to Reuben and Sammie Pye. He was a former resident of Southlake, Texas and graduated from Southlake Carrol High School in 1972. He attended and graduated from East Texas State University with a bachelor of science degree in 1976 and received his master degree of agriculture from Texas A&M University in 1985. Greg moved to the Rio Grande Valley in the early 1980s and married his wife, Irma Laura Babiak in 1986. He worked with the Texas Department of State Health Services as a Zoonosis Tech for more than 10 years. Prior to this he worked as a cowboy for Barnhart Ranches. Both jobs allowed him to indulge in his love of nature, animals and the outdoors. Survivors include his wife Irma Pye and his mother Sammie Pye, both of Harlingen. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today, July 26, 2006, at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James Springfield, Richard Clark, Randall Baker, Trey Nash, Dr. James Wright and Jerry K. Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Ayers, Billy Snider, Scott Hagy and Juan Babiak, Jr. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Baptist Medical Foundation, P.O. Box 2588, Harlingen, TX 78551, or to the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, P.O. Box 450, Rio Hondo, TX 78583. MARGARET "MAGGIE" CLEARY MARTINEZ Margaret "Maggie" Cleary Martinez, 81, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 25, 2006. She was a native and life long resident of Brownsville. Maggie was employed by the Brownsville Independent School District for many years and retired in 1992. She was a very loving and devoted person to all and a dedicated supporter of the Lopez and Porter high school sports events. She was the loving wife of Amancio "Mancho" Martinez for 55 years prior to his preceding her in death. Maggie was also preceded in death by her parents, James Joseph Cleary and Rebecca Ramirez Cleary; a son, Pablo Martinez; a brother, William Cleary and Josephine Cleary who raised her. She is survived by her loving children, Jaime C. (Juanita) Martinez, Rebecca Ann (Genaro) Muñiz, Amancio "Manchito" (Christine) Martinez and Rita Ann (Tony A.) York; three sisters, Katie Maranitch, Alice C. Cano, and Mary Ann C. Arzamendi; 12 grandchildren, Jamie Jr., Joana, Jason and Jackie Martinez, Roxie, Riann and Gianna Muñiz, Amanda, Jacob and Cain Martinez, and Freddy Jr. and Kimmy Cruz; four great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and other relatives. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, at St. Luke Catholic Church. Committal service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
