CARLOS YADA, 82, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. GUILLERMO "MEMO" PEREZ Guillermo "Memo" Perez, 49, of Port Isabel, entered into eternal rest July 26, 2006, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bartolo and Guadalupe Perez; his sister, Maria del Pilar Gracia; his mother-in-law, Emilia Montoya; and his sister-in-law, Ofelia Martinez. Memo was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel. He was general manager for the Laguna Madre Water District, where he had worked for 30 years. He served as a Port Isabel City Commissioner for 8 years, served on the Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation Board, served as a long time volunteer fireman for the City of Port Isabel, and served on the Board of the Laguna Ma-dre Boys and Girls Club. He was a Member of Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church of Port Isabel. He is survived by his wife, Angela Perez of Port Isabel; two daughters, Maria del Pilar (Juan Silverio) Hernandez of Denton, Texas and Ana Victoria Perez of Port Isabel; granddaughter, Emilia Hailey Hernandez of Denton, Texas; brothers and sisters, Lucila (Constancio) Martinez of Port Isabel, Rosalinda (Arturo) Gonzalez of Edinburg, Jose Antonio (Lupita) Perez of Port Isabel, Juana Maria (Mike) Gonzalez of McAllen, Edward (Virgina) Perez of Wayland, Mich., Monica (Polo) Gracia of Port Isabel, Bartolo (Jaine) Perez Jr. of Los Fresnos, and Francisco Javier (Belinda) Perez of Port Isabel. Several nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and other relatives also survive Mr. Perez. Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. today, July 28, 2006, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church, 705 Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday July 29, 2006, at Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel with Father Gerry Barrett officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Brownsville. Pallbearers will be Jose Antonio Perez, Edward Perez, Bartolo Perez Jr., Francisco Javier Perez, Robert Montoya, Raul Montoya, Juan Silverio Hernandez and Rodolfo Gracia. He is preceded in death by a brother, Pedro Martinez and a daughter, Guadalupe Martinez. He is survived by his wife Virginia Martinez; sons, Miguel Angel (Rosaura), Saul (Aurora), Noe, and Mario Martinez (Irma); daughters, Irene C. Lara (Victor), Francisca Sigala (Amando), Olga García (Gerardo R.), and Nancy M. Tamez (Benito Jr.); 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Sarita and Socorro Martinez; brothers, Ruben, Erasmo, Emilio, and Domingo Martinez. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a public talk at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
