Today we mourn the passing of a great patriarch of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. George Price entered into the Heavenly Kingdom into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 7, 2006. George Price was born in Valdosta, Ga., September 27, 1911 and was a retired minister. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Monica Sandra Linski and a son, George Price III. He is survived by his daughter, Georgianna M. Bishop and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His dear friend, Bunny Gomez and her husband, Al, also survive him. Price was a World War II veteran having served with the Merchant Marine Service as lieutenant junior grade. Price was admitted to the Florida bar in 1936 and practiced law in Florida. In 1959 the future Pastor Price was led to seek entry into the Missouri Synod Ministry. He served parishes in South Florida from 1963 to 1980 and was Chaplain at Winter Haven Resort for four years. He served as Vacancy Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in the fall and winter of 1990-91 and became Vacancy Pastor at Fishers of Men in Port Isabel. In July of 1994 he was called to serve Trinity Brownsville which he lovingly did until retirement in 1999. He continued teaching Bible Study at Trinity for several years until his health failed. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Memorial in memory of George Price may be directed to the donor's favorite charity. A memorial service for George Price will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 901 Boca Chica Blvd. The Rev. David Byler will be officiating the service. MANUEL SALAZAR Manuel Salazar, 76, went to be with the lord Sunday, July 9, 2006 in Tyler, Texas. He will be dearly missed by all his family. Mr. Salazar is preceded in death by loving his wife, Sara Salazar and brother, Rafael Leal. He is survived by his daughters, Rosa Pardo (Victor), Alejandra Torres (Juan A.) of San Pedro, Patricia Salazar (Gabriel) of Houston, and Maria G. Martinez (Miguel A.) of Tyler, Texas; sons, Manuel Salazar Jr. (Maria L.) of Brownsville, Pablo Salazar (Blanca Estela) of Tyler, Jaime Salazar (Maria C.), Guillermo Salazar (Patricia) and Eddie Salazar (Martha E.) all of Brownsville; 36 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brothers, Francisco Salazar Perez and Jesus Leal; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. GERARDO FIERRO Gerardo Fierro, 44 of Port Isabel, Texas passed away July 9, 2006 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. Mr. Fierro was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He worked as a manager for Radio Shack in Port Isabel. He is survived by his two daughters, Cassandra Fierro and Ashley Nicole Fierro, both of Port Isabel; his parents, Federico and Yolanda Fierro of Port Isabel; two sisters, Armandina (Tomas) Hernandez of LaMarque, Texas and Deborah (Felipe) Brown of Alabama; two brothers, Santiago Federico (Irma) Fierro of Port Isabel and Francisco Xavier (Martha) Fierro of Houston, Texas; special aunts, Margarita Fierro and Antonia Zurita both of Port Isabel; fiancee, Mary Lourdes Ochoa; the mother of his two children, Romana Fierro; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. today Wednesday July 12, 2006, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito; visitation will continue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday July 13, 2006, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jaime Sarinana, Martin Fierro, Felipe Perez, David Zurita, Tomas Klinger, Francisco Fierro, Mark A. Brown and Chris Calzada.
